Bio-Tech Company
Bio-Tech Company
What is this?
Bio-Tech Company is a single-player campaign for Starcraft 2.
About
This campaign consisted of various scenarios where I explore different gameplay ideas I had. It was made around 2012-2014 and thus is a bit dated but I still think it might be enjoyable for people to play. The focus is not on story-telling but more on unique gameplay settings.
Content
The Bio-Tech Campaign
This is the newest version of the Bio-Tech Campaign. The zip contains 10 map-files and 2 mod-files.
Installation
Copy the SC2Mod files into the Mod folder in the Starcraft 2 folder
Copy the SC2Map files into the Map folder in the Starcraft 2 folder
Open up the BioTechCampaign.SC2Map file and press "test map" button.
The mission launcher will then start.
The map files must be in the right folder for the mission launcher to work. Similar to this:
C:/StarCraft II/Maps/BioTech/BioTechCampaign.SC2Map
If the location is off the mission launcher will not function.
Hi. I'm not sure what might have happened.
I see that the missions are namned Ignos 01, Ignos 02.. etc., instead of Ignos01, Ignos02 like the newest versions. You might have an older version.
Perhaps you could try to redownload them and try again.
I'm on cell phone away from my computer, but if the problem persist I can try to find the cause when I get home tuesday night.
@njrodys hi how are you, really like hots mission 2 really sad biotech is a discontinued project. I tried to play the Ignos campaign but something went wrong i don't know what and why. Perhaps you can help me?
Thank you so much for sharing this great write up here. This is worth reading and I like this very much. Mission screen shot is really good. Go through with the blog essay writing service review before choosing the writing service.
I about a 3/4 finished with Ignos 4. I'll have to update the zip then. I'll try to remember to add custom skins then :)
Is all fixed on mission 3, i still see that ugly green recolored hybrid :(
Thanks for the heads up guys. The text bug should be fixed now, great thanks to JayBarino.
Usually, the param/value errors are due to localization of the Galaxy Editor. There's a manual process that can be done, requiring overwriting all the localization folders (in the Components of the map) with the language the map was created in. @njordys, PM me and I can share a procedure I've used that should fix this and make your text changes viewable by different regions.
On mission 1 of the most recent release the first two screens with the selection buttons all the text is parm/value/blahblahblah where I'm assuming its supposed to be the difficulty selector? and one last question why is the "new mission 1" completely different than the most current release? the "new mission 1" has nova, war pigs & firebats and the current first mission you control the diamondback and you have to get to the starport. which mission is correct for the storyline? i like it so far though haven't beat either of the first missions yet nut i only tried them both once & figured id let you know about the text in the beginning of the first mission of the most current download! thanks for the time and effort you put in to keep us playing our favorite game! :)
@A1asd: Go
Thanks. I'm glad you like the terrain, I really enjoy making it too :)
I have had a history of problems with locals and other technicalities regarding regions. Perhaps I should just read myself up and try to fix these missions. But on the other hand, I am currently busy with real life stuff and I want to use my SC2 mapping time on creating new maps. I think I will upload my new campaign though, once it's finished.
But thanks for the suggestion.
Why don't you upload it to the arcade?
It looks awesome and you would adress more people with an upload to all regions :3
You deserve more attention with this map!
Edit: Btw I just had to say, that i realy LOVE your terrain design :3
Thanks Hockleberry! Glad you liked it. Yeah, my missions are cluttered with spelling errors. I do have some help on a new campaign I am making nowadays so the dialogue and spelling will be much better in the future.
The wraiths cannot die, even so I think playing on hard difficulty is still a challenge. I hope ;)
SumID - Aww, I thought I had solved that issue :( It is a locales thing, people playing on english on the EU version of starcraft (like I do) can see the text all fine but people with game versions from other regions can sometimes only those obscure PARAM VALUE blah blahs. I will look into it. Thanks for the heads up.
But the biotech campaign itself does not require HotS. Only the side project maps require the expansion, aka Mission1 and Mission2.
Does your new version of biotech campaign require HoTS? I dont have it and at startup Im seeing some sort of boxes for options but it says PARAM VALUE blah blah blah in the selection areas.
Just played through first mission. Very cool!! Love the carrier concept and the camera angles! Very good change up for the first mission.
-I noticed that espionage is spelled spionage on the loading screen. -some of the overloads seemed to just float through the wraiths on the cinematics.
Can the wraiths die? They are very OP if not!! :)
Looking forward to playing through the rest of the campaign.
This is such a great resource that me are providing and you give it away for free. seeing that understand the value of providing a quality resource for free bloons tower defense 5 super smash flash 2
@njordys: Go
I can certainly help with testing and feedback. And if you want, I can help proof-read your dialogue and writing in your missions, as I consider my English skills to be pretty decent (it helps when I live in an English-speaking country like Australia!) :P
As for mission 5, it is tough because the gameplay is so unique, so it's not easy to find a solution. A two hero mission could work though, let me know how it goes.
Happy to test your Protoss mission. Have fun playing through my campaign too.
Thank you for feedback :)
Yeah I have some difficulties with language. I'm not good very good at spelling and find it generally hard to express myself in english. Thank you for pointing out those mistakes.
Mission5: I see, I've heard those concerns before and I agree. There should be something done to shake up the gameplay a little.
I'm beginning to think that perhaps a set camera might work better, the rotating camera make people dizzy and it's hard to prevent graphic bugs and akward positioning. But then I might have to redo a quite alot of the terrain.
I'm also thinking about making this a two character mission. I have experimented with a trigger setup where you have two heroes but you can only control one at a time. The other will follow the main. You can change control but only once every two minutes or so, making you stuck with the choice you made for a while. The heroes have different set of abilities, and if your main dies you gain control over the second character and it becomes your main till the other hero revives. I think this can have some potential.
I'm rambling now :P
I have downloaded your campaign and will try to open up enough time to play it during the next couple of days.
Btw, I'm working on a new mission on a new project. It's a protoss mission. Perhaps you would like to test it? It should be finished, or at least beta-finished, during sometime next week :)
My feedback for Bio-Tech.
Missions were pretty well done, terrain was good. I felt that every mission (apart from #5) was very enjoyable. My feedback for specific missions:
Mission 1
I really loved this mission, terrain is excellent and gameplay is perfect. My feedback:
Gameplay: Perfect, don't change a thing.
Loading Screen: A few spelling and grammar corrections as follows.
Water: Currently your water is not making the most use of SC2's graphical abilities when it comes to water. :) I suggest changing a few settings to water to make it look better. I personally tinkered around with these settings on my computer (extreme graphics setting) and this is what I came up with.
Mission 5
The terrain was brilliant - the environment felt surreal and the music added to the atmosphere. I liked the concept of the map.
However, the gameplay was frustrating at times. The camera often changing angles and following the hero around was a little annoying. Also, the gameplay can get quite repetitive. I often ended up corpse hopping, and walking everywhere fighting the same type of monsters for 30 minutes felt pretty exasperating.
Looks pretty cool, I'll have to check this one out!
I agree with you. I'm also a bit bothered that they postponed the hots campaign for 9 months just to finish multiplayer balancing. Whats the point in that?
Main problem of SC2 is this:
