Earlier today, Blizzard posted a job posting for an Assistant Technical Designer, which is a position targeted specifically at us mod makers. From what I've gathered, the position involves working directly within the GalaxyEditor to work on Blizzard DOTA and/or the future campaigns. I know there are a lot of us Mapsters out there that meet all the requirements/plusses for the position. Anyone serious about joining the ranks of the Big Blue should certainly check out (and apply!) for this position.
Elemental TD Updates by Karawasa
Karawasa has implemented a ton of new changes his map, including mazing (allowing players to make their own paths), auto-rematching (allowing you to play multiple rounds per game without having to leave), a team mode improvements (allowing you to play with a friend in the same area), and a bunch more heroes. Check out the changes in the videos below!

Glad you enjoy it.

Great to hear you find it fun. Your idea might be too overwhelming for the player. There are already enough cosmetic "distractions" as it is.

Colors are annoying and many unreadable on top of the UI

Tofu, because as much as I respect Blizzard mate, I cannot justify moving to the other side of the world for AU award wage (35-40k) where I can honestly get the same amount working in a supermarket or hardware store.
You have to remember, I am quite a bit more qualified than most here, I did not just leave school or anything, I owned my own graphic design firm for a good 6 years, and I still to this day continue to do corporate image consultancy. I am a designer, by trade, amongst other things, and as such, if I applied with anyone, I would be seeking a higher position because I have the skill set that is required at those levels.
When I finish Tofu, I will have a fully playable game that I, along with Dry, created by ourselves. There was no "big" team, just two down to earth guys taking a gamble to try and change the course of their lives.

别着急,其实在中国的机遇比美国的更多,只要耐心等待,时机会到来的。
Well, just this time, I hope I‘m living in US.
The job description, it doesn't seem like they are looking for strong data editors. More like strong galaxyscripters/triggerers. So anyone with both a strong triggering background and data editing background looks pretty ideal. I hope some of the more contributing members of sc2mapster are able to land a spot with Blizzard.
Elemental TD is one of the best td's out there, I enjoy it. More people should play it.
Karawasa, good job on the Elemental TD update. I would like to see more in non-super-speed so I can look at the custom tower effects you created.

I wonder which would look better in your portfolio....you have been working with blizzard and possibly very popular DOTA and other projects
or that you made tofu
I love playing your game, its fun man :), btw I have not seen this used much and I'm not sure why. On top of the editor is a button with a fancy A on it and you can color names of units. So my idea was that on something like a fire tower would have a red name and a water tower blue, or if darkness and fire were put together in a tower you could have it shift from purple to red.
I just applied for the job. Hopefully my VISA for Canada, my custom maps published here, and my experience in the video games industry will help. I don't expect to get the job but an answer from them would still be more than welcome. It's quite rare to see opportunities like these, with low requirements and potentially not much responsibility, and it's also an excellent start for anyone willing to get their first permanent job in the industry.
(Is that just me or nobody wishes to comment about Elemental TD, now that everyone knows there's a job available at Blizzard? :D )
Great vacancy... i want this job... I will do my best
It would appear to be a position with near no true creative input, ie, being able to input some stuff but not really having any weight given on the ideas, and perhaps ending in doing more meaningless tasks than truely designing the game. This would be the very lowest entry level position I have seen posted, hence the lack of triple A title requirement. Not sure though, that is my take from it. It is a very worth while position for someone just out of college (I think? I am not too good with the US school system), who just wants to get their foot in the door and might not have enough credentials (?) to apply for a higher position.
I have been qualified for other positions (like lead designer positions) but have chose not to apply, because of where my life is at the moment, and other projects (Tofu), I would rather finish that and apply with a stronger portfolio than try and apply with a weak portfolio, especially after 10+ years in design and knowing the importantance of a solid port.
To anyone who cannot apply right now, there will always be more positions in the future, if you feel like your portfolio is not up to scratch, or real life iis just not in place, then it is all good, work on what needs to be done and wait for next time :)
That sounds decent with a reasonable portfolio of "made this stuff in the editor". Good luck for anyone who applied.
Nice job posting by Blizz... and pretty decent requirements too (ie many of their postings are like "must have 5 years on a AAA title" lol)... definitely would be a good way to get your foot in the door at Blizz for whoever wants to :)
