I'm doing a tutorial series on youtube. It's a bare basics tutorial showcasing the fundamental features, intended for completely new or SC1 -> SC2 mappers.
Part 1: Getting Started
Part 2.1: Little bit of controls
Part 2.2: Terrain 101
Part 3: Starting the map
Part 4: Fixing & Doodads
Part 5: Alvin and the Data Editor
(apologies for the mic mess up, I'm thinking of redoing this part).
Thanks for making those, it helped me figure out a lot of the basics that were hazy to me before. Its also good to let people see some little tricks and such.
Hey I noticed that you're getting the weird cliff-side graphical "smudge" or whatever the heck you want to call it. Try pushing ctrl+t, that might fix it for you. I believe it's ctrl+t, I'm at work so I can't test it out.
You seem pretty familiar with the editor. Could you make a cinematic-making guide? Or at least point me to one? (I've been looking the whole day for one)
The basics of cinematics are pretty easy to learn. If you just go to the camera layer, you can place cameras using the few buttons for it. Then go to the trigger editor and look at the camera triggers as well as the cinematic triggers. (Keep in mind that you can make a user enter cinematic mode, and then have the camera triggers move the camera).
I would make a tutorial but I am busy working on another project right now. I hope that helps though.
Figured about triggers 3 days agot. And the start cinematic thing is pretty obvious. I manage to start it , lock the camera on the unit I want it to , zoom it in , but it's still wrong. I'll mess a bit with the camera layer tonight , though I really don't know what'st he deal with depth , angle and all that.
I was looking forward to using this tutorial too. I tried to make a map once, but never got around to finishing it, and i was thinking about trying to get back into the editor. But now this tut is gone, and I dunno what to do. :(
I just received messages from Mikelat and he's not going to reupload the vids. If you ppl need help with the editor, feel free to ask questions in the appropriate forums.
Was pumped as hell to come home from work today and get started on these tutorials only to be disappointed that they've been removed. If you aren't going to re-upload then delete this thread. It's just a tease at this point.

Really nice job with these tutorials, I loved them. It's like... What to expect first opening the editor, :).

@mikelat Do you mind to tell us atleast why you've removed your videos?
Yeah, these were really great. Are you planning on re-uploading them somewhere?
Hey, Why did you get rid of those videos?
Yeah, why did you remove them? ^^
