Oh maybe like 2016 or 2017. It's all relative I guess haha. Time is shooting by >.<
No kidding... I feel like it was just yesterday that SC2 was in beta, haha. I remember when the Galaxy Editor beta patch dropped...
What's up!
Remembering you guys too, just today when I saw your post, Sixen.
I too remember the days when we datamined the MPQs and hotmodded SCII to experiment with some stuff.
Remember when we were making maps WITHOUT an editor?
Those were the good ol' days... What I didn't say was that I remember rushing home from university when the GE beta patch dropped and myself and Maged data mined the editor and I released videos of it before it was officially released, ;).
Before that though, was pretty awesome, I remember Vjeux made a somewhat popular map at the time just using Galaxy scripting and editing MPQ's... mmm... nostalgia...
You probably haven't been paying too much attention to recent projects. But I turned you into a Hybrid Cult Leader in my Mapsters campaign :). The Cult of Sixen!
Hahaha, I vaguely remember this from years ago, it's not that new, right?
It’s been a long time since I’ve been around here; for those of you who don’t know me, I used to run this place! I see some of my old stickies are still around…With COVID-19, I’ve had some free time at home on my hands, so I had the opportunity to go through all of my old Blizzard swag and decided to put it to good use and give back to the community that’s been a part of my life for so long.
To celebrate the SC2 10 year anniversary, I’m holding a giveaway on Twitter; here’s what I’ve got:
2 Care packages, consisting of of:
SC2 Zerg (Swarm) Messenger bag
Razer mouse (Spectre)
Razer headset (Banshee) or a BlizzCon 2009 Raynor n00bz sealed collectible
Unfortunately, I have been busy with life. Working full time, married, attending grad school in the evenings, and most importantly: haven't been employed by Curse in 4 years. When you see me post announcements, it's done in the little spare time I have, which is why they have been sparse as of late. :(.
Wait, you're telling me there's no actual person on this board who has
admin powers? Are you joking? I thought Sixen et all were admins?
Sixen was an admin, a long time ago. He sold the site to Curse, stayed
on for quite a while as a paid Curse employee, and was then told he was
going to lose his admin status because Curse no longer wanted to pay
him. AFAIK he then had a talk with Curse and stayed on for free, but I
still believe he's lost his admin privileges. I can ban his account,
anyway, I know that much (Edit: I don't know how much that says,
actually, I can ban every single Curse employee listed below). He hasn't
really been around for ages either way and only ever still updates the
front page with news occasionally, aside from doing some general
maintenance/bot banning. Looking at his log, he did two things on April
28, two things on April 10, and some more things on April 7.
The Curse admins assigned to Mapster are Kaelten, Torhal and Prencher.
The latter did some random site security updates on March 5 (but hasn't
been here since February before that), Kaelten is around even less than
Sixen and though Torhal is banning spammers on a daily basis, he has
never even communicated with the mod team, AFAIK.
Hey now, while I don't read every thread of the forums, I do check the site daily.
To those wondering: the guy who made DiabloFans sold it to Curse in 2009. I was brought on as the community manager for DiabloFans. I had been a huge SC1 mapper back in the day and brought this up to the people at Curse who make decisions. Turned out, they were working on SC2Mapster behind the scenes, and they brought me on while it was in development to help make suggestions/decisions regarding how the site would turn out. I then took over the site and grew it from 1 person (myself) to the community that it became. Vjeux was assigned to help me with whatever I needed, at the time, he was a developer intern, or something of the sort.
To be fair, I'm getting married in 34 days and am also transitioning into a new job at work (headed to research & development, woo!), so I've been busy, to say the least.
Im especially against a subforum. Not only do I feel like it would breed elitism (which the WC3 and SC2 mapping communities seem to be especially prone to) but also hurt SC2 mapping in a way. A strong WC3 themed mapping community can boost SC2 mapping itself, but if you try to seperate the WC3 stuff from the usual SC2 stuff, we run the risk of further drying out the SC2 mapping community overall and in the end we will be left with a bunch of WC3 themed mappers while SC2 themed mappers dont get any attention.
Im against any sort of seperation, because its all SC2 mapping and should be treated equally.
I think we can just... try it out and see how it goes. I imagine there isn't near enough activity these days to actually have issues like this occur.

Any chance you'll be open sourcing this? I think there's a huge lack of development around AI, even to this day.

Well... The whole forum is a Starcraft modding forum... This is a warcraft-in-starcraft subform, ;-).
