Hey there. I'm an old school Starcraft player that dabbled in SC1 mapping for years, but since 2003 or so I've been a Half-Life 2 modder working with the Source engine (one of my projects is Half-Life 2: Wars which is a HL2 mod converting the game to an RTS). Been waiting excitedly for SC2 for over a decade so I decided long ago I'd develop for it - and now that I have my hands on a beta key and the beta editor I'm getting started.
I'm a student at the University of North Carolina, recently turned 21 and I read lots of books and watch lots of movies (as well as playing/making games of course!). I figure this will be my forum home for SC2 editing so just wanted to say hello to everyone!
Heya HM, welcome to Mapster! I did a lot of SC1 Mapping myself, I actually never got into War3 Mapping as I just stuck with SC1. It's a big change from StarEdit, but you'll get used to it, :).
Thanks man! I've been fooling around in the galaxy editor, I'm happy to have a REAL dev tool like I'm used to with source mapping, gonna take a lot of learning to get the scripting down though (but that's infinitely preferable to making triggers in Ye Olde Staredit)
Hah, no doubt, but it's well worth it. I mean, back in the day, I couldn't believe how advanced StarEdit was (coming from War2Edit), and I got used to that real quickly. Just stay with it, you'll learn it rather quickly, :).
