because battlenet is down for u.s . and this fricken thing keeps asking to log in for validation. Not only i cant do any map editing, i also cant even play in "offline mode " for single player. So basically i paid my money to be blizzards bitch, i can only use their product when they say i can. This is when 3rd party hacks/cracks i fully support the use of when companies pull shit liek this, anyone agree?
Similar to WoW downtime. And that doesn't even have an offline mode at all.
But seriously, QQ moar. They shut down the game for a few non-peak hours on one day - it's not the end of the world. If you are so enraged by minor restraints to your play time, you shouldn't have bought the game. In an online based game, a reasonable person should expect occasional downtime.
And you probably shouldn't be advocating hacking of the game because this site states that it operates within Blizzard's TOS and I'd guess they don't want to deal with that crap.
thats understandable if "you want to play online".. I however dont want to play online and i would like to play some campaign or do some map editing. This is totally different from other games where if they go down for maintainence, the only part you cant play is online. Warcraft 3 was never like this . I just saying its annoying. Everyday the editor seems to asks for a log in validation. Not all the times do i have internet here.
This is built up frustration im venting because when i have free time i dont always have access to internet rendering the game i purchased with hard earned money useless and now when i do have some time to edit, i now cant cause bnet is down so i cant pass the validation part to do anything.
The validation on the editor thing is kind of retarded, I'll give you that. It'd be strict if they wanted to do it once, the first time you logged in, but really, requiring online contact just so you can use the editor to a game you wouldn't be able to play if you pirated the thing?
Initially you only had to verify like once each patch but you have to do it every time now which is indeed rather annoying. But then again the game did warn about downtime on the agreement and even if you didn't read it all, they have themselves covered up because you accepted it. I suggest you put this on the official forum without flaming or anything and perhaps if more respond they can at least acknowledge the problem.
yeah... no editor while B.net is down is 100% idiotic on blizz's part.. and I never go out and say things like this. If battle.net is down, it should throw the editor in offline mode...simple as that.

I agree with this. Its very disturbing. They are so worried about piracy and crap. It doesn't matter how good they will be with their piracy protection. Their company vs the world of hackers... They will always lose. Unfortunately the people that are Innocent will suffer.
I have a question: Can any of you use the editor while offline? I hear people complain about not being able to all the time, but yet I can. If I turn my laptop's wireless card off, I can still load the editor, open maps, edit maps, and save maps.
Never tried, I can offline once I have activated it for the day... however I have never tried this before activating it for the first time that day, ill give it a try and post back.
