I have a question: Can any of you use the editor while offline? I hear people complain about not being able to all the time, but yet I can. If I turn my laptop's wireless card off, I can still load the editor, open maps, edit maps, and save maps.
Similar to WoW downtime. And that doesn't even have an offline mode at all.
But seriously, QQ moar. They shut down the game for a few non-peak hours on one day - it's not the end of the world. If you are so enraged by minor restraints to your play time, you shouldn't have bought the game. In an online based game, a reasonable person should expect occasional downtime.
And you probably shouldn't be advocating hacking of the game because this site states that it operates within Blizzard's TOS and I'd guess they don't want to deal with that crap.
So by "help" you really mean you want someone to do something for you.
Look, in order to actually get this done you should offer to do it yourself and instead ask *how* to do it. A good start would be going to SaveTube.com or one of the other similar sites and getting the songs off those YouTube videos. (If that's legal. If it's not legal, you shouldn't do it.)
And I guess the obvious question is: Why can't you just mute your in-game music and play your own on your computer in the background?
I don't think I said anything about people with experience.
People edit Blizzard maps as a base for a lot of reasons- specifically when they make games that are just variations of standard melee games such as Phantom BGH. Just because you don't personally doesn't mean plenty of people don't.
And just because you do personally doesn't mean lots of other people do.
But I don't want to continue this disagreement here and clutter this thread. You can PM me if you'd like.
Uh its a Blizzard map. Following that mindset should they have even made the Galaxy Editor at all? Since we could potentially rip off Starcraft II you know.
If we modify the actual editor and try to redistribute it, that would get us in trouble also because we would need to hack the code of the actual engine. So they prevent us from stealing their content on both fronts.
They allow us to use their textures, models, native triggers, etc. but they don't allow us to use their finished products (i.e. their melee maps).
I think it's cool that you've taken the time to duplicate all the DotA mechanics. A lot of people don't realize how different the DotA systems were from actual WC3 mechanics.
You said its a WIP, but you might want to pay some attention to the tree placement in the forests. I see that you've copied the DotA layout, but there are some things like the little bend in the bottom lane on the "Sentinel" side. It has a small kink in the path that will probably a) slightly extend the length of that path and b) block line of sight.
Your map just isn't fun for people anymore, sorry. On the bright side, you probably learned a lot from making it. Next time use what you learned to make a map with more staying power. That's the same challenge all map makers face. It's not too hard to make a map that's fun, but it's hard to make a map with good replayability.

I think ideally the model would match Blizzard's style so it blends in.

That guy who made the "tutorial" is funny. Sounds like he's trying to make himself a martyr

Sounds like a good way to get people familiar with it. I approve.

The last time I played Haunted Mansion it was pretty darn laggy.

Oh ok, I see. I wouldn't say they're necessarily *needed* but I get what you mean.

It all looks a little messy to me, but it's not bad.
I don't know if your map is AoS or what, but perfectly straight lanes seem a bit weird...

No.... I don't really think they do. Almost everyone maps from scratch starting with File > New...

See the difference?

Not dubious. I wouldn't let you take my map, add some new triggers and publish it on your own, either.
