4 hours?! I can't believe nobody answered this sooner. Anyway, open the data editor and find the unit type you want to be a detector in the Units tab. Then go to Behaviors - Behaviors + (Assuming Combine Structure Values is pressed) and add Detector (10), Detector (11), or Detector (12). The number is the range at which the unit will detect.
Hm...Well I would suggest looking at the missile turret. I could swear all you need is the behavior but...maybe there is also a flag or ability or something?

Feel free to Send me a PM if you have any questions/concerns!
I created my own unit similar with Sentry, but there is no "Behavior" option.
I still managed to get Detector under behavior tab, but nothing happens. I created my own behavior, but still nothing. Gonna try with abilities now.
What do you mean theres no behavior option? I just added the behavior "detector (12)" to the sentry unit via the data editor (under the units tab) and it works fine....Check my map and see if you did the same thing. I didn't modify anything except adding that behavior.
edit- oh hey I haven't seen you before. If you're new to the galaxy editor the tutorials in my signature might be helpful to get you started. PM me any questions you have and I'll try to answer them :D
In the pciture you are in the units data tab, swith to the actor tab and you should be able to see behaviors in the actor event list.
(if you want to add behavior, then just add event and choose "Behavior" in MSG Type, then choose the detector spell (10), (11) or (12) from the source name list.)
Not sure on last one tho the Sub name thing, but I think you only need to choose "on" in that list for detectors.
Wc3 editor was way simplier. Everything was clear. This is some kind of bullshit. You gave me a map as an example, Behaviuor tab is available at Data-Units-Sentry Tab. I open another unit - boom, no behaviuor tab. How to make it appear ?
I add the behaviuor through actors - it doesnt work. And the tab doesn't appear.
Yes.
In the map example it did appear. I cant seem to get it appear. Freaking me out.
I add behaviour through actors - doesn't work... Maybe a specific term or what?
Here, I'll post some screenshots to help ya out. Sorry bout the not-so-great quality.
So firstly, we have the Data Editor open to the Units Tab. We've got the Sentry selected. On the right, we've got Behavior - Behaviors + selected.
Then we double click Behavior - Behaviors +, click the green X, and scroll down to find Detector 11.
Click Detector 11 (or 10, or 12), click OK, and sentries are now detectors.
Here's a clear picture. Follow the instructions I set out to you and you will have working detector on ANY unit you want. YOU DO NOT ADD AN ACTOR MESSAGE FOR DETECTION.
Red Squares : All those buttons in the red squares should be pushed in. That 1 button that's not in each red square(the left-most button) do not push that one in.
Blue Square : go to the units tab.
Greend Square : Double click the Behaviors + field and find Detector(#) and then press OK and now your unit is a detector.
Hello.. Yeah, the topic. I cant seem to be able to put the detection buff on my units.
How to do it?

How did you make the behavior option to appear here?
