I am able to create the ability that creates a unit but I the unit always spawns at the caster location. How can I make it so when I click ability to create a unit, It prompts me to select a location target and then spawns at that location?
I don't know how to do it the exact way you want it. But you can create a trigger that instantly moves the unit to that location anytime it is spawned.
1. on your builder unit, add the ability - probe build (probe)
2. after that, click on that ability you added. and click view, it will open up the ability properties
3. click abilities - click add button (green one) on the probe -build (probe), select a button, remove the requirements, and specify what unit to warp. ok
go back to builder unit and add new button to command card and select ability, probe build (prone), the button u selected on step 2.
test it. done this to spawn marauders, with scv build you can only select train marauders - resulting them being spawned on builder location and it takes

What you can do is create the following trigger:
Event - Ability used (your ability)
Action - Create unit at point (Target Point for order) facing...

Change the target from caster unit to target unit/ point in the create unit ability.

edit: nevermind, I see you suggested and actual fix instead of a sloppy workaround :p
In the effect part of the ability on the Target tab I have:
Location Location Effect: None Value: Target: Unit / Point
Origin Origin Effect: Create X Value Target: Unit / Point
It still just spawns the unit at the caster's feet.

Make the ability to be the type "effect - target", and give it range, then make sure the effect targets a point/unit and not the caster. That's it.
Show me what im doing wrong.
You have the Spawn Owner set to the target. The target is a point on the ground and cannot own a unit.
If someone could just please post a example or show me what I should be doing it would be great.

After alot of messing around with the stupid editor wondering why one of my spells wasnt working. It hit me!
make sure the Abilty "ARC" or wotever is 360! and they actually work
