StarCraft Master by Blizzard
Blizzard has just released their fifth Custom map (the first four being Burning Tide, Auir Chef, Left 2 Die, and StarJeweled), called StarCraft Master. This map is very similar to the old SC1 "Impossible Scenarios" maps, where you are given a specific number of a particular type of unit and are instructed to kill a specific number of a different particular unit, with the key being your ability to micro.
Quote:A new challenge is coming: the new single-player Blizzard mod StarCraft Master. StarCraft Master offers you the opportunity to put your skills to the test in 30 different challenges that will tax your knowledge and your ability to control your forces. Each fiendish challenge will demand your utmost concentration to prevail, and they’ll help you hone your unit micro-management skills in situations which mimic real battles.
These fun and demanding challenges range from “kiting” a single unit, to managing incoming damage and maximizing unit abilities, to controlling a mix of units to obtain victory over a superior enemy force.
If a particular challenge proves to be too daunting, don’t worry. You have the option to ‘warp’ from challenge to challenge, which will allow you to skip a task that’s proving too difficult or head straight for one you want to work on.
If you’re really stuck, just hit F12 to view hints that might provide the nudge you need to triumph. StarCraft Master also offers five new achievements and a new portrait as well. Eager to test your mettle?

I got 3 MBs and it plays fine. 3 MBS still being terrible
I'm surprised they came out with this so late. I figured this would've been an early teaser map before the release of L2D, Star-jeweled and Auir Chef. Oh well.
Anyone with some ladder sense gets a good couple of hours of play time out've this map completing all rounds. It's nothing major. What I thought was frustrating, was seeing how much the internet connection plays into even solo-player maps. It's absolutely horrendous.
Grant it, right now I'm only on a 1.3mb connection (which is a huge step down from my old 16mb but hey, it happens when you move...) but it still pains me to get so frustrated at a map so ... in all honesty? BORING. Because of lag. The map is nearly unplayable due to the lag if you're one who suffers from a lower connection at that point in time.
Why should this be noted?
I have a bad connection right now. I know this. That's why I'm never on WoW at this point in time. I thought playing a map BY MYSELF would be a nice break. Apparently not... >.> I could play it "Offline" but you wouldn't be getting the achievements this way; which again, for a map so boring? I don't think I would've played it either way if it didn't have at least SOME achievements.
Wow! They are just so creative and original. Who would have ever thought of doing a micro map?? I mean, just search for micro maps on this site and you won't find any!! It's just so addicting!
/sarcasm...

I knew, I dont play ladder. Why? I watch Totalbiscuit Commentary, and they explain it all the time, just in case its your first time...
Some of these comments. Why so much hate?
I mean sure I'm not gonna get tons of replay value out of it, but as a relative baddie at ladder I've found it pretty educational. I had no idea I could right-click minerals to free surrounded workers :(
Mind = Blown

actually there was 2 weird map files hidden when the game first came out, I think Starcraft Master is just a completed one of those.
EIther way this is a 1 week project, and this if only one person is doing it.
They probably did this by team and took them 1 month.
@Gamemore: That'a what they want you to believe. Considering they should be working on HoTS and DOTA I say it's time wasted on an unoriginal map.
Haven't played this yet although I think its good blizzard is making maps shows the players they are still alive.
Another portrait, I don't want another portrait I want Blizzard Dota.
waste of time.
This map made me to hate blizzard more.D
The portrait looks hideous, and it looks like they just cropped it. TT
Good Job, Blizzard.
well impossible scenarios where all team maps xp this is just like the other micro challenges :p
Cool portrait, but other then that its kinda lame, beat 25 for the portrait in about 30-40 minutes
