I'm just looking for stuff free to work with. The most I can stretch out is books to research with.

Flash may not be for you then, you can get a free trail ... However flash itself can be pricey, lucky I was able to get a studen edition for super cheap.

There is a free flex builder you can download which let's you program flash applications, it's made by adobe and many large companies use that instead, only catch is you don't get the mc library/GUI you get with flash

And you don't need books, I've never used a flash book in my life google + tutorials all the way.

all those games are in fash... 99% of games you play in your browser are done in flash (the other 1% would be java applets which are quickly going away) sc2mapster online, is in flash. Actionscript is one of the easiest languages there is to learn. though as3 is a bit harder than as2, its a lot more like java which in turn makes it easier. what are you trying to learn? theres so many sites www.kirupa.com flashkit.com gotoandplay.it you can also pm me any question you have.. ive been programing in flash for over 9 years. 100% self taught You can start programing flash in two ways, 1) download the trail/buy flash or 2) dl the free... well it use to be called flex, it has a new name now, but its a IDE for actionscript. Also what most people dont know, is what as3 brought to the table, adobe air, which lets you turn flash applications into real desktop applications for pc or mac. these programs can use any system information like a real program and is not limited to your normal browser flash application. ebays desktop app is programed in adobe air/flex lets also not forget adobe air lets you publish apps for the andriod.

Quote from Sixen: There are editors for all their RTS Games (SC2 Galaxy Editor, War3 WorldEdit, SC1 StarEdit, War2 War2Edit, and War1 WarEdit). I've never heard of/seen a D2 or WoW Editors, so please fill me in.
I think he means internal editors, in the behind the scenes they call it "wowedit" for wow.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Blizzard won't let you publish this map because of religious reasons. It's silly isn't it?

this is very true, however, you could just give money to "good forces" and "evil forces"

you cant say "in general what do people program there editors in" they program it in what works best for there application. I have a flash editor programed in as2 for some of my games, I made a java world editor a friends game... Ive made a simple 2dworld editor in c++ for a small rpg for someone else.. you could use VB if you wanted to... its about what YOU want and what works best for you. edit: you like to ask a lot of "general" programing questions which is totally fine, but these dont have anything to do with sc2..so keep them in offtopic please =D

Are you sure ? That'd ruin my project of having cross-map achievement system... That I already finished. Great.

you can use banks between your maps 100% confirmed for months and months and months, for exmaple star-gate rpg that someone is working on does this.

    Which things?

    Quote from Tolkfan: Go

Look at the top of the page, there's Maps, Assets, Authors, Teams. Wouldn't it make sense to add a Tutorials section there that would function like the other ones? The tutorial listing is nice, but people often forget to add theirs to the list and the tutorial eventually gets lost on page 42 or something.

Users could also have a link (and a counter) under their avatar, leading to all their tutorials (exactly like maps/assets). No more fuss with signatures or making separate posts just to list all your tutorials.

Oh hey- another thing. When you want to see the last time somebody logged in or if they are online at the current time, you have to find a post they made. The info is not shown on their user page for some reason. What I mean is from this post, you guys can see the last time I logged in over here

    <<<<<<

But if you click on my name to view my 'user profile' you cant find that info.
