Hello, this is an RPG map that I have been making for a while now, and I felt that I probably should make a post about it so I can get some feedback on what I have done so far.
Here is a video showcasing most of the systems, (Sorry for the poor quality).
Current (mostly) Finished Features:
Character Save/Load System
- Saves Level, Inventory, Equips, Actionbar Settings, Position, Quests
- The Above is COMPLETELY saved, all quest progress, quest items, misc items, everything is saved
- Stores up to 6 characters, can logout at any time to load another hero without restarting map
Quest System (about 4/5 done)
- Quest Tracking UI under the minimap.
Fully Customizable Action Bar
- Bind any ability to each button
- Bind any key to each button
- Visible Cooldowns with timers on the buttons
- Visible Display of when you need more energy to use an item, or you are too far away.
Custom Inventory system
- Item Types: Weapons, Consumables, Misc., Armor, Quest Items
- Item Qualities: From White to Epic
- Stackable Items
Character Screen
- Eight Slots to Equip Items to: Helm, Shoulder, Chest, Gloves, Legs, Feet, Main-Hand, Off-Hand
- Displays:
- 3D Model of Character (just for looks)
- Base Stats
- Weapon Damage for Main-Hand and Off-Hand
- Critical Chance
- Armor
- Dodge Chance (Leather Wearer's Defensive Stat)
- Guard Chance (Plate Wearer's Defensive Stat)
- Absorbtion Chance (Cloth Wearer's Defensive Stat)
Diablo 2-like Party System
- Displays Party Vitals on the left side of screen
- Easily Manage and view all the parites currently in the game
Completed Combat System Elements:
- Custom Debuff/Buff system, showing it under the target UI and by your minimap (like WoW)
- Threat System, that knows when you are in and out of combat, (for things like heal regen and logging out)
- Regular EXP Level up system
- Damage Display
- Base Stats add things like Damage, Health, Mana, Crit, Parry, and Dodge
- Crits, Parries, and Dodges now are fully functional
Minimap/Map
- Minimap is toggleable and at the top-right of the screen
- Checks things like current terrain height to make the position more accurate
- Other Players and Quest NPCS appear on your map and minimap
- Map will show the entire map, including where all available quests are at any time, and where other players currently are
Ability System (mostly done)
- Current Types of spells done: Instant Cast Spells, Click anywhere to activate spells (like AoE), Cast Time spells with a recreated WoW casting bar UI
Loot System
- Corpse-Based Loot system, since I plan to add tons of items, including misc. Items
- Suffix Based Loot, with over 15 different types of suffixes
Notification System
- A bar of buttons right above the action bar that contains any notification that can be sent to you:
- Examples: Release Spirit, Ressurect at body, Player Ressurecting you, Deleting character/item/quest and much more
Custom Store UI
- Self explanatory, you can buy things like potions, equipment and other things with a completely custom UI
Heres some screenshots: (Old)
New Screenshots in a post below.
This is just a small tip, you may want to give the UI a consistent theme. Like, everything is blue or something. It looks a little messy when different parts of the UI look completely different. If you wanted, you could do this by tinting some of the dialog images so that they look similar. Well, that's just my suggestion.
Other than that, the game looks fantastic! I hope you don't abandon it, like so many other great looking games other people have made.
Great work on the UI, I hope to do something in the same quality someday :) Have you figured out how to travel to other maps when playing multiplayer? Or is it singleplayer? Or is it just one big map with dungeons and stuff in some areas.
Changed Item system to allow any custom property on any item, such as Suffixes, Enchants, Soulbinding, etc.
- That said, there are over 15 suffixes currently implemented and fully working (screenshots below)
- Items will have red text over certain areas if you cannot use the item (see screenshots)
- Currently there are about 50 items, not counting that most of them can vary with each suffix, and thats just up to level 5.
And random stuff like formulas for some of the mechanics (Stats, Exp System, etc.)
Ahh, I want to play it!:D (Anyway, a good suggestion: dont publish it publicly until its almost fully finished)
Btw those dialog images are custom made?
Looks great. It might just be me but it seems you used too much protoss units. You threw in 2 terran and it seems kind of odd. You could try balancing it by giving rogue to terran or you could give engineer to sentry and sniper to stalker or one of the original sc1 units if you wanted to use any extra models, dragoon as a sniper(I can see it now). Was also thinking depending on reaver model he might fit as an egineer.

Some of the UI is just modified versions of the images/buttons found already in the game, like the button I use for most of the game (hate the default button), the character screen, ability screen, and some others I'm forgetting.

I know what you mean, but I just didn't like the idea of using any type of non-human unit as a hero such as stalker or sentry, as it just doesn't really make sense. I can't really think of a terran unit fitting as a rogue either. Protoss just has really nice looking melee/caster units that I don't want to pass up on. If blizzard dota ever comes out it should come with some sweet models perfect for any rpg.
Reaver for engineer sounds like a good idea, will think about that.
omfg so beautiful, so cool... you put other mappers to shame. hell this puts Blizzard's new maps to shame. if you need testers sometime I'd love to help in any way

Wow that looks so damn great. The best looking rpg i've seen for now.
Good luck
Sweet Jesus. And you did this all yourself? I salute you in respect. Awesome stuff.

Awesome work, man.
Keep it coming :).

I haven't really tried map switching mid-game yet, but if blizz ever makes it work for multiplayer it would be definitely something I wanna look it.
Just bumping since I added some more stuff, and a video.
Looks great. I really like the UI, looking forward to this being released.
Update:
I have finished some more stuff:
- Strength
- Agility
- Stamina
- Intellect
- Crit Rating
- Haste Rating
- Guard Rating (Plate Wearer's Defensive Stat)
- Dodge Rating (Leather Wearer's Defensive Stat)
- Absorbtion Rating (Cloth Wearer's Defensive Stat)

Looks AMAZING. Are you going to start public testing anytime soon?

Wow, amazing map you got there. :)
How did you get 3D models into dialogs? Is it linked with a camera or something?
@Vermore: Go I used the portrait system to create that effect, I can post the exact action definition I used if you want.
Ah alright, thanks LinkD. I'll try it out on my own first, if I run into any problems I'll take you up on your generous offer. :)
Great map! How did you make the moving minimap?

This looks awesome! I just have one question, are you going to remove the ponytail from the zealot? It looks ridiculous lol
