Hey guys, since my epic fail in my last project (The Emergence of the Swarm) I realised that people is not interested on campaigns (they've got Blizzards campaigns on the game) and they want innovative games (e.g. arena maps, which are really claimed on Arcade), so I started to think on doing a hero arena map, and it is how "Titan Wars" born. First of all, I'm going to use WoL terrains, so everyone can play it. Randomly, I'm going to pick one WoL terrain and I'm going to mix another 7 random tilesets on it (through Data), so, in the end, I have up to 8 arenas to play, which I'll improve with doodads. I've opened this thread for you guys to give me ideas and feedback of the terrain, the data, and everything I post here; and I'mgoing to need masters on certain parts of the editor (e.g. layouts) for helping me in this map. Of course they'll get credits when the map wil be published.
If you don't mind, I'll start asking for an UI master who can make the custom layouts for this map. A description of it: I want the minimap, the Idle Worker, the Army Button, the Control Groups and the Minimap buttons (ping, alliances, etc.) to be hidden. I want a 15x1 Command Card placed to the top left. The Portrait Panel should be at middle right with a frame around it and the Unit Info Panel anchored to the middle left. I'd like to do it myself, but I suck at doing layouts.
You definitely shouldn't give up on your campaign. StarCraft II mapping in general is dead, and you will most likely get more of a reception from making a campaign. But about this map, I can help you with all elements, just tell me what you need.
Oh, thank you really much, the mostdifficoult part for me will be the UI. I'll comment a bit how the game will be: there will be Heroes from al the three races (three or four minimun for each), with their own story and more (I'm doing now the first Zerg hero: Arthric - The Excluded, it is based on the Kaboomer Model). The map will be divided in eight stages (each one with its own effects, doodads...). Each round won by a team grants them Titan Points (equal to the minerals) which allows them to buy upgrades for them Heroes (each hero has its own upgrade tree), also grants a bit Points to the loosers. IThe team who first reach 5 rounds is the winner.
Really good but could you make the Command Card to be 15x1? You can follow this tutorial made by Helral fordoing it (think is now anchored to top left) Only takes to put the Unit Info Panel to middle left and the Portrait Panel to Middle Right with added frame around it. It will be good to hide the Social and Help buttons too leaving only the menu. I can try doing something. Is it done entirely with layouts? EDIT: Trying to make the Command Card. EDIT2: Forget about the Command Card 15x1 Top Left, let's une a premade one 15x1 anchored to bottom center.
Could you sen me the Layout which hides the Minimap, its buttons, the timer and the Idle Worker and Army Buttons? I only need that and move the Portrait Panel to finish the UI.
This is how the UI finally would have to look. I'll provide you with the Layouts I've done to be edited accordingly to the picture. Thigs are colored for an easier way of seeing where the things should go. EDIT: if it's possible, could you merge all the layouts (when the Custom UI is finished) into one big CustomUI.SC2Layout? EDIT2: could you add a frame to the Portrait Panel as done with the Minmap Panel? EDIT3: if it's possible to do it through layout, hide the resources (includingsupply) except the customresource, because I'll be using itfor the Titan Points.
I puzzled a bit with it and changed it how you wanted it. The menubar and the gametimer(MissionTimePanel) cannot be hidden or moved offscreen, Blizzard doesn't want us to do that. Also for some reason the resource icons wouldn't hide.
I'm so sorry by disturbing you, but I think it will be better a Dialog based UI. Every game I see has a Dialog base UI and it's really cool to see that. I'll post here any problem I have doing it ;) P.S.: Some good tutorial for doing this?

Well for the first part of hiding it just do the hide UI action. Although then you'll have to reshow the other parts you wanted to show.

I read on a post that all I have asked is ppssible through layout, so I'd like not to use triggers in unecessary parts.

The UI I... can do.
Here; I just did this.

Advancing on the terrain. I'm doing the first arena (Agria) and finishing the selection terrain. Here you have a screen of the selection terrain.
Finished making the base units (4 heroes from each race).

I really need help with he custom UI.

Thank very much I really appreciate your help, be sure you'll be in credits ;)
Then resources will be hidden throught Triggers.
