On the front page of sc2mapster it has those good looking videos that will probably contribute a lot to advertising a map. What do people use to record those? Google revealed several programs but they seem to be paid...
Fraps is the reference, but if you don't want to pay, WeGame does a pretty good job at recording without crashing. Didn't compare it with other software though.
FRAPS is a good tool but you can only record 30 seconds with the free version. Taksi was designed to be an alternative and that's what I use. Example video. Link to Taksi..
The one Vjeux posted above is the full version which can recorded an unlimited amount of time.

Same Brother Laz from PK? If so, sup dude. Malkor here.
Fraps is the best utility by far. Camstudio gives me stuttered video, camtasia destroys audio and video regularly on all of my attempts to use it.
I've yet to find a recorder that plays nice with Age of Wonders 2, however.
I use Sony Vegas for standard editing and megui for my final x264 encodes.

I hear Hypercam is okay, but I've never used it.
You can also check out Xfire, it allows you to do this for free (as well as live-streaming if you care about that).
Fraps to record videos then Virtual Dub to compress it and cut some useless parts.

Camstudio, it's free.
@BrotherLaz: Go
I use fraps and Windows Movie Maker. All free (torrent wise :P).
Fraps, and I'm greatful I payed for the registered version like 8 years ago for lifetime upgrades =)
Oh. Didn't know it was that. Thanks!

Oh. Didn't think it was. Thanks!
And thank you vjeux for that! ^_^
Yup, I'm also using FRAPS. It's worth its cost.
I think FRAPS is good 2
FRAPS.
The best video recorder i used.
Great quality (if you buy it, or download a cr4ck3d version, dunno about the trial one)
I saw someone writing about using VIRTUAL DUB to cut out useless parts, but I know another great program. It's called: Sony Vegas.

I use Fraps to record, Sony Vegas / Adobe After Effects / Adobe Photoshop to edit.

Fraps`and`Sony`Vegas`Video`to`make`nice`clips`;)
Everytime ive ever used fraps it has had horrible quality. I use WeGame and Procaster and then adobe software for other editing.
Fraps records perfectly for me, and its free so that's another plus.
