They really did overestimate the difficulty and this was also partly due certain skills.
I dont think its neccecarily bad thing even if the game doesnt have high replay value. Its already plenty fun and has paid off itself.
And yea...there is no way to fix it anymore. They need to release more areas and dungeons with harder levels to really increase replayability.
But I wonder if it would become better if they balanced the skills and runes. I have tried several builds but one seems to be superior to any other...so around 90% of skills are useless... :D
I'm actually quite happy with the runes implemented so far (48 Wizard). I've found a use for the majority of my spells. There definitely isn't a 'best build' for Wizard, with the slight exception that stacking life regen and grabbing the Force Armor rune makes you completely overpowered. The game is actually balanced in a pretty good way in that there is no 'best build' because there are a LOT of different situations that all have a different 'best build'. There sure are 'best overall builds' that help you cope with most stuff, but these builds won't be as good for soloing Diablo or 2-manning with a Barbarian.
Example: people are complaining Disintegrate is the best AoE spell, period. I say: yes, it indeed is for pure AoE situations where you can just stand there and nuke. If you stack damage, you can do this for 70% of the game and be fine. Point is, as soon as you're facing enemies that force you to be permanently moving (fast/mortar elites anyone?), Disintegrate immediately loses 100% of its worth. Literally. You will not be able to cast it for longer than a tick, at which point you're getting better damage and mileage out of even your signature spell. Arcane Orb is a lot harder to make work in an effective manner, but you'll suddenly find it to rock balls against these enemies.
All that really needs work is the end-game scaling for melee classes, and changes to a couple of clearly overpowered abilities (force armor+hp regen really is out of the park - you virtually get to stack damage and need only ONE spell slot to take care of ALL your defensive needs).
I have learned that you can use Your First attacks for each slot. with their first runes, and you will still have a powerful build, thats what I love about it, Unlike in D2 where you had all these skills. But you never used hardly any of the.
I feel obligated to rage about inferno here; if none of you have made it there yet. first of all, if you have a melee class, do not plan on getting past act 1. I am a tank, pure tank; tank monk; seriously, I am in the top 1% for monk tanks I am that much of a tank. I have a total of 98% damage mitigation; 3 heals, an invuln, an AoE disable, and still; in act 2, I get killed in about 3 seconds to white trash mobs. In act 1; I can take on 2 groups of elite mobs at once; and laugh at my allies while they die.
The trick to inferno is to not take damage, period. I did some math (reverse calculating my damage reduction) and found out that the first mobs your encounter deal ~200,000 damage a hit. With 25k dps+ on a ranged player; you can kill them before they hit you. on a melee player, they kill you before you hit them enough to actually kill them. Oddly enough; white trash mobs are much more difficult than any of the major bosses in the game; I will take a boss fight over being mobbed by 20 creeps any day. I believe any well-geared player can solo any of the built-in bosses without much difficulty.
Seems like an overestimation. Four palls of me have been running Inferno for about a week now (and have also been watching streams of people running it) and they were talking about 100K damage a hit without resistances on act 4 mobs. The scaling does seem to really favour Wizard and Demon Hunter, I'll give you that, but it's not exactly impossible for melee classes to do anything. My monk buddy is now comfortably running act 1, slowly getting ready for act 2. Not to mention, the mobs that act 2 starts off with are the wasps which are seriously hard for melee players to begin with - I'm sure you'll have an easier time as well once you get past those.
The cinematic wasn't new and story was meh, somehow it also felt shorter than act I and I still HAVE NOT finished it so I'm skipping all of your posts since i realised you started saying spoilers :P
Having beat the game on normal, I can say that Act II is definitely my least favorite. The dungeons are kinda blech and it's really bright for my taste. That said, Act III and Act IV are both amazing, so they make up for it :D
This got me also interesting in torchlight 2. I do not think there is much more to see in d3. Iv also made it trough inferno act1...kinda feels like it doesnt have too much more to offer. I even started to make barb, but god its so boring to level it up...I can just get gear from auction house so it becomes more of a chore to level him up and get to new difficulities. Would be cool to try lvl60 with different charecters as long as I wouldnt need to level them up -_-.
Oh and I even got legendary lvl60 set item with something like health globes +150 health...Kinda dismotivating :D. People have been raging about the itemization and yea...legendaries are too random.
But I still do not feel like returning to sc2. Maybe someday....
Now I've literally heard it all. I've heard all sorts of people call all seperate acts the best and the worst act in the game.
I like them all, though act 3 is more my style.
I'm sorry but when you separate a game in acts that's bound to happen :P
It's like SC, they're going to be a trilogy, people ARE going to say I like WoL better than HoTS and things like that.
That said, I haven't finished the whole game so I can't actually say "The game as a whole sucks" or "This game rocks entirely!"I have just played 2 acts. And I found act II incredibly boring, I really liked the art even more in this one but the storyline, was meh and dungeons were boring. There was only like 3 unique different setups :(
To someone like me that actually stops and zooms in to see the art in detail that wasn't enough material to keep me entertained plus the storyline really was meh in this one a bit too much predictable :P
I didn't really find the storyline all that predictable. I liked the emperor's stance for the larger part of Act 2 until I got to Zoltan Kulle's tomb, where I figured out what was going on. The way the boss of act 2 is presented is also done really well, since it really suits his theme.
My only real downside with the story is the behaviour of the end bosses in act 3 and 4. In both of them, everytime you've done something good, they come up to you and go like "HAH, YOU THWARTED MY PLAN, BUT IT DOESNT MATTER BECAUSE I'LL GET YOU NEXT TIME, GADGET!!!". I could've lived with them doing this once or twice, but it literally happens after every effing objective you complete.
LOL, I still think this game is Unfinished, They must be planning an Expansion, Diablo was owned way too easily. I honestly think that we will see him again in the next part of the story, and sooo many questions are unfinished, What about Imperion, what about Aria, what about Cain, you know he cant die without becoming a ghost.... not necessarily evil...
What happend to the black soul stone, Diablo fell from heaven... does that mean he was pushed to Hell or Sanctuary?, DID colonel Mustard really kill Mr.Green with the teapot in the kitchen?
Also I think its official Error 37 has became a meme :D lol.
They are going to add PVP, and a few other things and patch for those 3 years.
I wouldn't have said it better... Don't forget SC2 was released 2 years ago already, and people are still playing AND modding it. Three years is not much, considering Blizzard games are usually so well done people end up playing them for 10, if not 15 years. PvP in Diablo 3 will surely make the whole experience different, in the mean time players still have time to get their characters to the maximum level and to get the best gear they can. The achievements (*COUGH* when they're not bugged like "level up the blacksmith" *COUGH*) are hard enough to obtain so that you'll need to play the game multiple times in order to get them all. Not that the game will be any better if you get all the achievements, but at least it should keep you playing D3 long enough before PvP arrives... Bugs and features will get fixed weeks after weeks, I wouldn't worry about it. By the time you'll get bored of PvP and co-op games, the expansion will be there.
So just as I thought, give D3 another 1-2 months and you will get tired of it, then maybe switch back to smth else then back to it. for a few boss runs, then again a big pause from D3 etc. That's the problem of HNS, at least D2 made you search for set items and unique items.
