What bugs me most about the whole "WOTLK made raiding too easy" stance is that the opinion isn't dying out. It started off as a (justified) complaint from high-end guilds about how boring Naxxramas was. Blizz then introduced hardmodes with Ulduar that brought some challenge back into the game. They improved upon that concept in ToC and more or less 'finalized' it in IcC. People still yelling that WOTLK is too easy simply copied the opinion without having any experience on the matter whatsoever, and even now, a year or more after Naxx, they're still yelling it without realizing how stupid they're actually being.
So true.
And then theres people who come along and say ICC hardmodes are too easy when they are doing them with the 20% buff.
OT: I dont play anymore. I started around when AQ came out, raided, played through all of TBC, (this space is void, i dont remember what the hell i was doing here but i did pretty much everything minus sunwell until 3.0), and WotLK until recently.
lol i'm running away as far as i can from the wow lover's

i vote unfit for the genre like i have said i hate all mmorrpgs and rpg and not just wow xD
Guys, C`mon. Why be haters?. There is a lot of games I haven`t enjoyed or liked, but I wont go make a troll of myself on their forums/discussions. Whats the point?. Sometimes I feel the cause runs much deeper, Like they felt wronged by the game in someway, maybe kicked from a guild or let down by a friend, had gear ninja`d, or couldn`t PvP or raid at all. And they take it too personally. Because a lot of anger fuels WoW haters for some reason o.0
Speaking of haters. I just heard that LotRO is going F2P. I honestly expected it to go that way sooner and am curious how many other failing games are going to make that switch.

Have you played it?
A game using the Lotr ideas/lore has so much potential(if done right).
LOTRO F2P? Ooooh! I'll get back to it! I've played it for a month or two some time ago and got as high as a 30ish Burglar and 20ish Guardian. I really like some aspects of the game - I'll even go as far as to say that it's lore and potential for RP are a HUGE load better than WoW's. Where it faltered really is the gameplay. They should've copied WoW exactly, imo. When I played it, all my Burglar's abilities seemed to be "on next hit', more or less, which made playing feel really odd - almost as if you had a permanent one second lag.
I won't be max level that quickly, but I'll definitely play a few more characters if it becomes F2P.
Edit: Actually, I just looked it up. Their "F2P" means you can only quest in 2 or 3 zones, and need to purchase acces to new zones. You also only have 1 character slot per server. Which means that even if I went back to the game, I instantly couldn't do anything anymore anyway - I'd be stuck with a level 30ish character that can't leave level 1-20 zones, and I couldn't play any of my alts. Good riddance. Thanks, but no.
When I stopped playing you were not able to fight Sauron. Keep in mind that the lore for LotRO is pretty much already set from beginning to end. To top it off, the creator is dead so nothing new in LotRO is canon. For WoW and Arthas, Blizzard can keep churning out all of the official lore that they want.
I don't usually use this rather weak argument, but yeah; the fact that it's failing hard really is a testiment to that. The gazillion bugs and worthless graphics in an engine that can be so much more help a lot too. I hope you realize that nearly everything good in Warhammer Online was copied from WoW, right? Only exceptions are the DPS-healing-tanking crossovers for healing and tanking classes and the open event-based player quests (forgot the name of those).
Warhammer has a lot of potential, but in a sense it's exactly the same as LOTRO - it does one or two things downright better than WoW, but absolutely fails at everything else.
WoW is the worst mmorpg i've ever played. And that wasn't very long at all.
how dare you then being able to say if wow is good or not? exactly that is the point, you didn't played it very long at all!
seriously, thats the problem of about 90% of all these whiners about "wow sucks, i played it i cant tell that it sucks" but they never reached the real wow.
you just havent played it! what did you play? a test account till level 20 with restricted things like not able to trade/chat/whatever etc..? obviously that sucks! and blizzard fails hard on this part, they should make it more attractive...
but that is not wow.
i am playing this game now since 2006, it took several months to bring my first character to level cap back then, sure that wasnt easy - and after i reached the cap at that time i just realized that the REAL wow experience only starts if you're on the highest level playing the really interesting content.
sure leveling and questing the same stuff over and over again sucks, but just hang into it and after that nothing never ever will reacht that, what wow provides.
seriously i played hell tons of games yet.. most games are fast action stuff, if strategy or fps everythign lasts - even if youre playing it competetively - only 1-2 hours if the game is good.
on wow you can coordinate a group of about 25 players, all having to play on the limit of their abilities (compared to the content you play and your equipment status) to play over a week for 5 hours or more a day, just to clear that content.
you fail on bosses, because you have to know the tactics for it, and you will fail several times on some of them - but if you kill that boss you failed on so much before, you experience a happiness, celebration on your guild/group of players, everyone is telling "good job guys" and stuff like that...
everything else like warhammer or whatever mmorpg you can tell isnt just the same, seriously.. they try to be the same, but they are simply not.
Stopped playing about 5 months ago. While I quit for a multitude of reasons, I can't say I disliked the experience. I have met and played with numerous friends, many of which I keep contact with, through the Real ID feature and beyond. Dungeons, Raids, everything up to Arthas I have visited and vanquished, sometimes with a hella lot of trouble, but vanquished nonetheless. Between Karazhan, Ulduar and Sunwell, through the legendary Deadmines and Halls of Dwarf Sexyness, I have been challenged and rewarded greatly. To this day, my Priest still wields a Val'anyr.
About Cataclysm? I say it looks promising. But making a return? Ugh. When you suddenly earn back hours of weekly free time, with no engagement to raid specific days, you kind of... don't want to look back. You could of course play ''casually'', but that's unsatisfying : you are used to end-game content, you seek the hardest challenges. Oh well. I will probably buy a month at some point, if only to visit the refreshed zones.
In any case, I definitely experienced a lot of great moments throughout the years. (:
Used to play WoW for more than 3years and stopped just 4-5month ago ... also tried other mmos WAR,AION,EVE (well this one i still play ), but must say iam more into the WoW franchise than any other 2days old one (except WAR) :/
but could also be the case i also did some addons, so i had atleast something to do while sitting in dalaran/shat/og
just waiting for some of the newer mmo's to try out ( tera / c9 ) otherwise it all leads to D3 & SC2 :D
I think as soon as we beat Arthas I lost my motivation to raid. Being forced rush home from work to get to raids on time felt a lot like... work! Think I would much rather be trying to make my own games than to spend another 200 or so days played on WoW when Cataclysm comes out. Great game but after a certain amount of time you just have to move on.
Damn... I hear a bell... Grab your note book and paper Kiwi
HES RIGHT! THE EVENT HAS STARTED!!

At some point, perhaps, sure. I might get back to it then. I'm comfortably sticking with SC2 and WoW for now, though =D
I've got enough on my plate right now. My 50 ranger can rot in the halls of Moria a bit longer.

Ive never played Lotro. Is the boss Sauron or something?
Sauron is pretty cool. Not sure as cool as the Lich King though. More lore around Arthas too.
