As some of you may know by now, blizzard announced their system of one free name change and then they are announcing the paid service...well, needless to say, the paid service upset a few people...
I ring in with my comment, actual "advice" about how a system can be created that bypasses the need for a paid service, something that will prevent trolls and allow people to have accountability...this after a blue says something along the lines of a paid service being the best way they could think of...
Apparently, ive been permabanned for it...less than 30 posts on the forum...ive also been post wiped....odd thing is, people were agreeing with me...
When it comes down to it, I guess when some random person wants to derail their charge for a free service scheme...the best way to handle it is to permaban their collectors edition account...
Needless to say im a little miffed about it...

Seems like some of my posts remain in the form of quotations!! Good thing people had the decency to quote me while replying!!
Well, they are giving you the first one free. Why would you need anymore after that?

Ohh I dunno...say i wanna come back to the game in a couple years but my prefrences have changed. I nolonger like my name? Now i would be forced to pay some arbitrary amount of money for something that has been free in all past blizzard games...
Good to know my $60/100 and my voice has been rendered null and void because blizz cares about money more than they care about what they customers want...
I honestly do expect a huge gaming crash in the near future...there is no reason for companies like this to rip off its customers while indie developers or anyone else offer services like this 100% free...
something as simple as a name in a game shouldn't be locked

We don't think names are simple for StarCraft II, and we've spent a lot of time thinking about how they should be handled.
So, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. You want to have throw away names, theme names, inappropriate names that you think people may find funny that you can switch out of at a whim. We don't agree, and I've already stated specifically why that is.
Yes you have, your greedy...heres a better solution. seriously, this is actually better than a paid...im not even gonna call it a service, its more like just being ripped off...
So, all names are tied to a battle.net account...
Anyone can have an unlimited amount of names
Anyone can chance their name at a whim
Their Battle.net account name (permanent one time creation) on the other hand is posted with their name (above it) for example, so that person can always be identified, no matter the name they are using...
To people who flag that user or report them for spam, they can have a few options, likewise with posters they wish to "follow" or whatnot.
Trolls will appear with a series of red "x"s below their name, to show if you disagree with them a lot, or green checks or whatever to show you agree with them a lot...
After a certain amount of checks or x's, they will either be reported or ignored, turning their thread responses from blue to a red or light blue respectively.
If you honestly thought the best way to "handle" the name change issue was to rip people off...yea...bye bye blizz, i will not continue to support a company so ready to rip off its customers any more than you already have with an unfinished product...
Good to know my $60/100 and my voice has been rendered null and void because blizz cares about money more than they care about what they customers want...

I would permaban you too for talking crap like that, and I hope they continue to ban people for doing it. It's trolls like you that were the reason they wanted to introduce the realID thing. If you can't express your feelings/opinions in a civil way, then don't be surprised when they ban you.Or just don't post there. I'm sure there are forums that look forward to seeing posts where people pull stuff like "activision ruined blizzard, kotick is the devil" out of their ass.
By the way, Blizzard games are in general really worth it money wise. Paying only $60 dollar for a game that provides hundreds (even thousands for some people) hours of game is what I consider extremly cheap. You won't see that anywhere else!
Making a game costs a lot (50 people * $30k a year * 5 year = $7.5 millions just for the people, add the server fees, the buildings, the taxes, ...). They have to find ways to get money if you want the game to be good. Also, their policy is pretty good as they only charge for non-essential services like name changes. So you will be able to play 100% of the game without paying additional fees. If you want to get extra goodies you will have the option to pay.

Agreed. Your (FreedomFight662) posts (both here and on the official forums) are poorly structured and laid out.
You've put no thought into your "argument"/"disagreement" what-so-ever. You're just moaning for moanings-sake.
I think it's harsh to lose a Collectors Edition account but if you're going to go out seeking attention by taunting Blizzard and their staff then more fool you.
Well my apologies then.
I was pretty upset about the whole thing, I just get a little upset when everything in games need to be monetized, ya know, those services that used to be free...those services that everyone else in the digital environment offer for free...
Regardless, I was upset. I still feel strongly about it, I dont feel im trolling, but if thats the way you feel, then I will bow my head and leave.
I really do wish a company with blizzards standing could have found a way to keep the free service free. They managed to do it throughout all their other games, and what scares me most is that this trend will continue to bleed into other areas and eventually make its way into gameplay...
I'll defend that the core game is solid and worth the money, but the service thats tied to it is not. I really hope you can understand that I was just one distressed individual who was truly upset at a series of events. I still feel as though my idea would have benefited the community more than a paid service. I didnt want to come back to the game in 3 years for whatever reason and have to pay for a service that has always been universally free...
It could have been worse by having to pay monthly for the game. Previous versions of Blizzard games were very client based, meaning all custom maps were hosted off of the creators PC. (Correct me if I'm wrong but) I believe SC2 is more server based and they host the custom maps. This means now Blizzard has to pay for many more SC2 servers and yet they still do not charge us monthly.
Having to pay small fees helps manage the servers and the money it costs to pay for customer service. It's better than having to go out and set up a whole new battle.net account along with another 60$.
All in all though I am surprised you got permabanned. Blizzard is usually good about warning people but even if you are furious you still need to watch what you say as they have the right to ban for pretty much anything.

Oh man I think you're vastly underestimating the salaries of game developers as well as the number of people involved in making AAA games :) An average salary is around $75k and of course in America your take-home salary doesn't include insurance benefits and taxes paid by the employer, so $100k is a much closer number to the actual average per-employee cost. (Source: http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2010/04/2009_game_developer_salary_sur.php)
Its ridiculous if you got perma-banned for that. Maybe cuz you called blizz greedy? But look, every time I cant log in I freak out and think I have been banned. Thats how easy it is to loose your money and sc2. So I'm going to stay away from battle net forums. At least at sc2mapster we can disagree and not get instantly banned without explanation! I really think others should also stay the heck away from those forums. Unless your ok with 60 + dollars going down the drain for "I politely disagree"
BUT... what blizzards doing is becoming more and more common. No game developer wants thier game pirated. Solution? Making you have to buy a license will eliminate 50% or more (probably) of piracy. Command and Conquer did it (I think, I dont own it), and Im sure many many more games will follow. Locking down on security in the game is the only way to help with the piracy problem, and unfortunately, these days people steal games all the time, forcing games to have security that hurts us all. But that is still no excuse for blizzards outrageous banning methods. Seriously, that banned tank defense without warning! No gamer would have thought that the map would be banned cuz of that!!

Basically, even though you came with advice, you pretty much went out and insulted them in calling them greedy rip-offers. And then you topped it off with actually saying "bye bye" and that you would not continue to support them, and I recall after the failed "Users have to post with their full name" thing went down, they said that they would be monitoring and managing the forums more strict than before, and that last sentence really sounds to me like that you got what was coming for you, no offence.
An important part of giving feedback is being constructive and avoid insulting those you want to take in criticism you have to say.
Edit: That post did fit your name though pretty well, you have to agree ;) *wink* (Blizzforum name)
Posting non-constructively (and furthermore negatively) was the reason you were banned, not because you were offering advice. You can disagree with something while keeping constructive. I don't understand why so many people make up reasons for being banned so that Blizzard seems like the bad guy.

I don't know why you even bothered post your opinion in the first place.
Your post comes off as baiting to me, although you're points are correct. I don't really see why they would permaban you for that though...
