The original was okay, but it was just so basic....
But really? ripping off banshees... Since SC2 is a super giant of RTS they shouldnt include anything that looks like anything in SC2... it ruins the experience, and I think the siege tanks in SC2 look more like tanks then those blocky looking things, it looks like a box with a cylinder....
The good news though is that there's no way this could end up being a shitty console port since strategy games can't be made for consoles. The bad news is that the first Genitals* was 'okay', so that usually means sequel will be worse. But really the worst part is you won't be able to skip the EA logo when you start the game!!
In all seriousness, if this truly is a PC-only game, and they really try hard to make it good, and it's clear it's not just a money-grabbing DRM DLC laden game... then I will buy it just to support the developers that cater to us.
C&C Generals was one of the first full EA C&C games they did after killing westwood, and I HATED Generals, it had no C&C play style other than "its an rts"
When I first heard about #2... I was... a little...well... I didnt care, could care less.
But read an interview from IGN and it seems they want to take it back to the very core root of C&C games. IF this is true, Then I really will look forward to this. (It looks like you can even build walls again, like in the good old C&C and C&C Tiberium sun.
SC1 on console was Great, So was Warcraft 2, But Halo wars made it AMAZING!!!!, The simplicity and the controls made it feel, "Right" i dont know what it was about it but it had a great feeling to it.
Let us never speak of sc1 on console again! What I meant is that it's pretty rare or undesirable for a complex RTS with lots of depth to be made on console. It just works better with a mouse or touch-screen.
Meh, a lot of times I see great interviews and then the actual game just doesn't come out right (atleast when put up against the Blizz/Valve juggernauts)... I'm looking at the Dungeon Siege series as an example I guess. I was happier playing old 2D Diablo 2. But let's be hopeful on this one :)
Community is a big deal to me. I wouldn't make maps or tutorials for just any game... there has to be an audience and a good following... which may or may not come with Genitals.

of course, which is why I didnt take to heart some of the things they said, it was just that one thing "We want to take it back to C&C roots, because we know thats what people liked, and thats what made the series great" So at least they know all this new crap they added to it ...was horrible....so I have some hopes.

I yell BS. If they really knew what people liked, they would not have destroyed our beloved Tiberium universe with the release of CNC 4, which I refuse to acknowledge as a C&C game. They better give me my damn walls, and laser fences too. I have a massive dislike towards EA for ruining the franchise of one of my favorite old school RTS.
I dont think Starcraft 2 can even be classified as a strategy game. Its more a multi-tasking/apm simulation(needlessly focus on boring repetitive aspects like building workers every second), and outcomes decided in large one/two unit composition blob-armies(ZvZ, OH he is has one extra roach and an upgrade, he wins the fight).
Micro is fairly absent. Alteast compared to Wc3, CnC 3 KW, etc. Which might not be a bad thing for people that prefer macro play, but I just find it terribly *boring* and an illusion of skill(ok you`re faster at bashing the keyboard hot-keys, gg you win). When you`re getting beaten by a little 8 year old korean kid because his apm is much higher than yours, you know there is no real strategy involved in this game. No decision making processes. Thou shalt drone up, and attack-ground command your enemy at the right timing push.
Unrealistic and rigid rule-sets. The fact that every game must have your base on top a ramp which can be "blocked"(to prevent otherwise unstoppable rushes) is so retarded and broken in logic. Since when is real war anything like that?
This game also heavily favors defense over offence. Atleast at the highest levels of play.
Map design is terrible. Blizzard is really useless when it comes to this. Certain maps without a doubt would favor some races more so over the others.
Like Lost temple or whatever its called(Used to be a tournament map until it was reworked recently), Thor/Siege tank deployment on the cliff above the enemies natural expansion lol. There`s plenty examples of this. Some maps just favor other races more due to various reasons.
Gimmick units. Being removed from the original when hots comes out(which will probably add more gimmick units, that will be removed for the final expansion lol). Blizzard thinks they are so epic when it comes to design and originality, but from what Ive seen with Starcraft 2, they`re pretty average at best(Lets remove the Goliath and add the Thor. That retarded unit. Epic trolling)
The only thing worthwhile is the esports scene(which is only there because Blizzard threw millions of dollars at it). Its nice watching "pros" play with the high level commentary etc, but I think its just the commentary and perceived excitement/hype that makes it enjoyable..The same formula can be applied to almost any game, and it can add more perceived value to it than whats realistically there. Go play a normal Sc2 game now and try to feel the hype/excitement, you wont, because its boring.
There`s nothing really mind blowing about Starcraft 2. Its an average game with the Blizzard logo on it.

actually banshees look a lot like the "orca" from original C&C just saying.

It's going to be better than SC2. Just sayin' (;
Wauw, I'm looking forward to see what Bioware can make of this game!
Boycotting EA just because ...
Nah, it's not. Looks purdy, but with the direction EA Stategy games have been taking over the past years I can't help but think they'll screw it up.
@Neonsz: Go Those Banshees look very fragile... ;-)

It's bioware, they don't make rts. What do you expect?

I didn't think it would happen, but I agree with you. At least on the helicopter part. Even if they didn't use the Banshee as an inspiration, the model is just too cliché by now to pop up like that in a random modern-world RTS, if you ask me.
lawl, what you talkin bout my rants are ALWAYS right... lol

Not a typo!Sure, they can. Even Starcraft 1 was ported to a console, and some strategy games like the Halo RTS started on console as well.
I have MASSIVE mixed feelings on this.
