I'd like to submit something else, whatever i try to post, it sometimes doesn't post at all, not sure if its some site issue, or just my internet, or that someone wants to hush me up <w<
Slowly making it through all of the stuff that came through after the end of the year. There was a lot! Not just from you guys. I'm still going to put together a larger list, but for those of you that are following this thread I wanted to let you guys know since I got swamped the moment I stepped back into the office.
We've put in a temporary fix for the site wide limit on file attachments on the forums (by upping it to a large amount) - but will be removing the restriction altogether for this community in the future. Test this and let me know if it works, if not I'll go throw hotdogs at the developers!
I have a list of other little things I hope to have fixed up for you guys by the end of next week. Don't get your hopes up too high, but I'm focusing on things like the reply feature in the forums, embeds, attachments etc. I want to get the community features and content creation tools back to full speed.
1. I think it needs a "dark" theme. It's insanely bright.
2. Being able to search words in the project list. Example:
I want to find specifically Zerg models. So I can set the category to models and search "zerg" and all projects that mention Zerg (That have their category set to model) should then show up.
Whoa, I hadn't logged on for a few weeks and I come to see that Mapster got an upgrade? Cool!
I like what I've seen so far! It's gonna take a while to get used to the new look, I'm just too used to Mapster being a dark site. :P
Just from a quick look around, two things came to my mind:
- Is there a way to search assets by category? For instance, searching only for model assets or AI assets, or searching for Protoss models, or Fantasy/Medieval models.
- I'm assuming following projects is similar to the old subscriptions - is there a daily/weekly digest for that, or is it 1 notification per update?
I'd also comment about PMs being wiped out, but I read the OP. Glad to hear all those conversations weren't discarded. :)
Either way, I'm very glad to see the site getting some updates! :) (rip kitchen spambots :P)
I suspect this question has already been answered but I am not prepared to loose through those 13 pages to find it.
how do you give thanks and gain titles?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Stranded on Krydon Renewed- A renewed version of Stranded on Krydon that is being constantly updated, has improved visuals, is more friendly to new players, lots more fun tweaks and much more planned to come.

See this blank white crispness? It screams "I am modern, I am minimal" and in a modern, minimalist society, things like "titles", "ranks", "thanks", ect, come far behind things like "follows" which will now be emailed to you 16 times per day to make sure you are constantly re-visiting the site, but not enjoying your stay.

True, there is an unfollow button. But, the defaults are set to follow everything, and to have everything emailed to you. How many people out there are excited when they order something online, and start getting 3 emails a day from "Macy's" about their sales, deals, news, stock ticker. No one wants that garbage. Imagine if you were subbed to every video you watched on youtube.
I am not saying that it is unfathomable; I am using it as an example to support that the site is modern, and more about page views, and keeping updates a "buzz in your pocket away"; than promoting a strong central community, with things like reputation, forum ranks, a main page, color.
I was trying to find my way around and this HIDEOUS just keep hurting my eyes. I think i will sue CURSE for making me blind.
That said I miss my front PAGE!!!!!!
I saw that Wargirl came up with a better solution and very upfront with out losing the front page videos or the treads. With this change I have say I cant believe a website like Wargirl is not even MENTION. She did send it to this flamegoat. As a sample for what it can look like if somebody from CURSE puts a little effort.

Do you people not use the internet? Like 90% of pages are white ... I feel like I'm listening to a bunch of 5 year old whine about having to take a nap or something.

Yes and No.
Many websites have white backgrounds, this is true. The usual issue is the effective page usage is not as high here, leading to more of the background showing then it should.
For example, the page navigation could have a non white background. The background to our avatars/left section of posts could be non white, drawing more attention to it.
Furthermore, as is all too common to pages now a days, the site is using a fixed width, which means you get nice white sidebars, which are wasted space.
If i wanted a far better setup, while preserving the white background, I would eliminate as much dead space as possible, and make all navigable/clickable elements have a non white background. This provides a good contrast, drawing people's attention to the actual content, and clearly indicating separation of elements and deadspace.
1) Could we get a reporting option for things besides spam like require moderator attention, I know spam reporting is most common but it would be nice to have others.
2) Are the old projects going to have their files fixed, or are you guys going to delete the ones that uploaded their things in .sc2map format.

Thanks for being thorough. My team/group project was wiped out. I started it in 2012 and I had about 30 people in it. We had a few assets that we shared within ourselves and those are gone too :( I didn't rely on it much but it was useful for contacting people I couldn't get in touch with on Skype, and it was a front for recruiting to our group, which was aimed at teaching and working with anyone who was interested in the sc2 editor. 24/7 support for any questions.. instead of googling or scouring the internet, you just aked us. We had an Icon that we'd put in our loading screens that represented Team Genesis(name of the group), and the Skype group is still active today... just without the group/project page on sc2mapster. It is a bit crippling to the growth process, as well as anyone else trying to coordinate group projects.... which most games require more than 1 person to make, as people usually specialize in certain areas, so taking the "Teams" page away makes no sense to me.

Yea I think we lost the majority of any of our older projects that we had in the team pages/forums, which isn't the end of the world but some kind of warning would've been nice.

And that's why I have a fun email account that I never check and a work email account. In fact I can't check it since my number keys are being odd.
And really, given that you can unsubscribe here: https://www.sc2mapster.com/account/subscriptions
it doesn't seem that bad.
Or turn off emails here:

Just click the "receive all notifications as email"
But unseriously, if you can't handle the "my preferences" of a forum site, you may not be able to handle the editor. :P

True under your account settings you can adjust what you get email notification for. I just have it set for PMs.
