Wow, that guy on Bnet forum is on your side @RodrigoAlves: Go
FROM : Shawn
" Dear Blizzard,
First, how dare you treat your map creators like this. Your game's lifespan to your player base wouldn't be more than 2-3 weeks if great people like Rodrigo weren't spending weeks of their free time slaving over a hot data editor to publish such great content as NWW. Campaign and Ranked Matches aren't enough to keep most of the players playing your game. You are nothing without these map designers.
As stated before, his map is linked to a dictionary. Anyone who has a dictionary or an internet dictionary can look up these words as they please. A six year old in elementary school can grab a dictionary and find these words. Simple as that.
That doesn't work for you? Ok. Give him a slap on the wrist, he changes his database, and then he republishes and everyone is happy. Can't do that? Then you guys don't deserve ANY of the hard working map creators that you have. Any idea what your game would be like if there were no custom games? It would suck. I would've stopped playing a week after the release. Everyone would simply pirate the game, play the campaign, and then be done with it. Just a faint memory in that gamer's mind.
Lastly, I don't think you guys understand how much effort map creators put into this stuff. I've seen guys that have been working on a project since the first day the editor was released back in beta and they just recently finished and published it. That requires some serious dedication and some serious time. But now, for example, that map designer has one tiny flaw in his map, gets reported, and now countless hours of work is gone in seconds. How would you guys feel is someone at the FCC felt your game wasn't kosher and just banned it in the US? Wouldn't feel too great I bet. Heck, you might even bring it up in a court case. Too bad you guys are dictators.
Stuff I've worked on: Carbot's StarCrafts Mod (2014-present) StarCraft 2 Hotkey Trainer (2010) | Mineralz Evolution (2011+) | Dungeon Legacy (2013+) | Phoenix TLMC 4 Entry (2014) Assisted: City of Tempest (2012) | BarCraft (2013) | Poker Defense (2014) and a few more.
Does blizzard even look out how the word is used in the maps? I can understand if they're being offensive towards a player but it's just being used as a spelling word. There should be nothing wrong with any words in that map since it's not being used at anyone. This kind of thing really makes me mad to think such a great company would do something so stupid. They need to open their eyes. I really liked the map, it helped improve my typing speed.
You all know what needs to happen right? Go into official blizzard melee maps, create enough units to spell offensive words, screen shot then bitch that those maps contain the debil's work!
Definitely think blizzard over-reacted here, again. Its pretty obvious you aren't trying to stir the waters with the inclusion of such a word and should be provided some leniency to clean up the list. Its unfortunate that some people still think there is such power in words but meh, blizzard has to cater to the idiots too.
I want to give Rodrigo some back up here. I think Blizzard is being too heavy handed. I agree that there is power in words, but I disagree with the motion Blizzard has made. First, they should have given a warning, not a ban, so Rodrigo could have gone in and fixed the problem. Second, they should have been more specific. Third, they need to stop removing good maps from the b.net scene because of tiny things.
Basically my thoughts on this. I don't think it's Rodrigo's fault for not checking all the words. Do you have the time to check 32,000 words?
You don't know how much of a hardass Blizzard can be... I think their staff's ego are turned up too high because of their recent success in subscription MMOs like WoW... That and they don't do anything about the massive phishing scams that turns up under THEIR name (far better to say they are working on it, over "We have no control in this").
Also, "Simple. Its your fault for not checking all the words." It purely gets on my nerve...
It's like saying "You bought the game so your playing by MY rules [throws pie at face]" <-That

Stop blaming Rodrigo, really. EVEN if you want to blame him for not adhering to 'the rules', he didn't actually break them. Dyke is a normal word that indicates a dam, and as a Dutchie, I know all about it. Banning someone for just using that word is BEYOND retarded. Idiotic censorship like this needs to gtfo my Blizzard games. People don't seem to understand that ANYONE can take offense at ANYTHING, and that it's therefore useless to filter out 'offensive stuff' that obviously isn't meant to be offensive.
I wish I could show my support on the bnet forums, but hey, I'm banned from that place for saying "that sucks" :D. Good riddance Blizz, get some damn competent community managers.
If maps like these are getting banned what are the chances for ANY of the good maps to be re-released again? Escape Weed World, Naked Britney Bound, etc. If you look at
Online Interactions not Rated by the ESRB, just policed by Blizzard for a "E"veryone Rating.*
It states plain as day TEEN rating. Under this heading one of the sections listed is Language as well as Suggestive Themes. Does this not mean that a map maker should have to adhere to the same rating? If Language is listed and a "offensive" word is use which loosely put as it is, It would still pass the games rating and should not have been an issue.
This is just Blizzard again being Blizzard. Starcraft 2 should have been so much more then it was and even though Blizzard states the community comes first and there trying to work with us then how do issues like this even arise.
To be fair, I don't blame 'Blizzard' as a whole. I don't really think stuff like this was ever the intention of folks like Mike Morhaime and Dustin Browder. The problem is that they simply can't take care of everything and have a lot of people below them to settle things like 'the ESRB rating'. Some of these are bound to be paranoid phobic assholes who fail to make the distinction between 'offensive' and 'A WORD'. And even if they aren't, there are bound to be players out there who are this way (judged by the fact that NWW would have to be reported to be checked out), which could give Blizzard legal problems.
Well still on this point and sorry to not staying on topic from the response listed above but inside Starcraft 2 multiplayer options can you not select Battle-net and then un-check enable Mature Language Filter? If this is such a problem should they not have a command directly linked to the editor for this specific reason. If these issues arise should Custom Maps not only get a rating for content but also a parental restriction or something. If Blizzard worked with the map making community a common compromise other then removing the word or a strict banning could have been resolved. Like if this game is a Teen rating shouldn't only teens up be playing set game?
I would say its an err on both sides, but mostly blizz. Wheter or not the dictionary was yours, its still your map. (and it was awesome, too!)...But blizz needs to give warnings. Technically, couldn't you copy all the map data into another map and upload that, but this time see if there is anything you could do to remove any "offensive words"....I find it funny that when you order a marine to move and he swears, thats ok, but not maps like yours. Jeez Blizzard. >.<\
Did you post on battle net also? It would get more responses but blizz might get mad and ban you...

Nah man, What is Blizzard doing?. These incidents coupled with the popularity system/resets are bound to destroy almost any potentially good or different maps out there. The only thing that remains in the end is ...sh1tty Nexus Wars and lame TD`S.
I bet it must have been a hater that reported NWW though. Probably reported it in such a sweet mannered and convincing way, that Blizzard removed it.
Because;
A. I dont think Blizzard discovered this by themselves
B. The vast majority of players wouldn`t even care/know/worry about that word.
Well...Cant wait to see your third map Rodrigo;p. I hope you have better luck then.
I have to laugh at people blaming Rodrigo, as I place no blame on him at all.
This ban is extremely draconian. The words in Rodrigo's map HAVE NO CONTEXT. If a nine year old saw that word 'dyke' do you know that nine year old would think? Nothing. There is nothing at all offensive about it and to ban his map as a result is insane.
One of the marine models has him getting eviscerated - SLICED IN HALF - where the top half pops into the air and lands with blood pooling. And yet this one word is going to make a difference?
No fucking way. It's not Rodrigo's fault for using a word that has some negative connotations, how for example would I know if someone might be offended at the following words?
Babe - Offensive slang describing a woman. See "Woman."
Oriental - Unacceptable to some Asian-Americans. Use Asian-American or Asian(s), the specific term.
Banana - An offensive term referring to Asian-Americans who allegedly have abandoned their culture.
Objectionable because no person or group can appropriately attach judgmental terms to others. Just as
objectionable: Coconut for Mexican-Americans and Oreo for black Americans.
Peg Leg - Use prosthesis or artificial. Also avoid hook.
Peon - A Latin American peasant, sometimes derisively applied to entire groups of Hispanics or others. Avoid.
Petite - Reference to a woman's body size. Can be offensive, use carefully. See "Woman."
Project - As in public housing project, has come to denote race. Use public housing development or subsidized
housing.
Samurai - As a term or caricature, can be offensively stereotypical. Avoid unless referring specifically to the
historical Japanese warrior class.
Shine - An objectionable reference to a black person. Do not use.
Spade - A garden tool or card suit. Be careful of usage. Highly insulting when referring to blacks, a popular
pejorative years ago.
Ugh - A guttural sound used to mimic some American Indian speech. Highly offensive. See "American Indian."
And these are just a fraction of offensive words I found on a SINGLE website. Might as well not use the English language at all.
Edit: Made a post in that thread stating the same thing.

I Guess he is right !
Wow blizzard really knows how to mess things up. They seriosly should consider the time people use to make these maps and not just insta banning.
Gl rodrig :<
marine : im still stuck in this chicken shit out fit. fyi blizz is STUPID as hell... not even i know what dyke meant <.>
make a Nexus Math Wars lolol only math think it cant get banned xD

Fuck Blizzard, this is getting ridiculous.
I don't even want to use the damn editor if they are going to be little bitches about everything.
Whatever happened to freedom of creativity?

Precisely, he's a mapper, not a lawyer.
But what if a certain set of numbers look like a word? o.O
The point is that Blizzard has a group of people at the ready to "ban" things... Guess they are a bit too trigger happy and want a promotion.
