Ok i am trying to make a map, with as many abilities and units as i can, that are from starcraft, brood war, or starcraft 2. Any help would be appreciated, could even send assests, models, etc for complete credit. I am working on one unit at a time, right now the zerg. i am having trouble with a ability, when researched it does no go away, and let me research the ability under it. Any ideas? any questions about map just ask.
ok, i can see how you got that. i wasnt very clear about what i am doing, and i typed few things wrong.
No i have got all the work done almost, when i was asking for poeple to send things it was unique units, abilities, etc they would like to see in a map that has all units from brood war, starcraft 1 &2. i have played alot of the maps and have not found one yet that actually has all units and abilities. I dont want anyone to think i am not doing the work myself. I just need help with textures and some problems with the abilities.
i could also use starcraft 1 models, or better yet, someone to tell me how to put starcraft 1 units into the game. what all is exactly needed, a wire frame and texture? or is there more?
right now i am working on the zerg, got almost all abiltites working, just having that problem of when i research them they do not go away, they stay able to be researched, and gave the larva a advanced mutation ability that is only able after a hive, which lets you have omegalisk, hunter killers, and brutalisk, this is were i asked for unique units that look realistically "zerg" and i would add them.
hydralisk, drone, ultralisk, infestor, queen, overseer, overlord, zergling, roach, broodlord, scourge, and buildings are all done. And added a zerg building armor upgrade but that is were the abilities not researching right is a problem. hope i cleared things up and made my map sound better then what i origianally did.
also am thinking of making the queen a heroic unit, and/or making the brutalisk a regualr unit. the queen with all its abilities given to it, can kinda be over powered with its shockwave abilitiy, added a cooldown, and a cast time to help make it less overpowered. the reason for the burtalisk is, i dont think its that powerfull, although i did add it to the zerg attack ugrade effected units so it gains those bonuses now, but still, a wall of seige tanks and its gone, same with a wall of colossus, stalkers, and immortals, its obliterated. Good unit to mix in with faster units and flyers though
one other thing i would like to do is make it a map where it goes day to night, not sure how to do that, is that in triggers? if so i need real help, not good with those at all. Another thing is i want SCV to be able to build the walls in the starcraft editor under the terran units, i think this would be a cool feature for the terran.
If you're really going for a "complete list" of units and abilities then you have a lot of work to do. As you have already played my map you can use all those upgrades and abilities if you want. Some of the units will require changes in order to be useful. Brutalisks are one example in my map I found them very hard to use because they are slow and their ground attack is melee ranged. Maybe make them faster but with less life to compensate.
My suggestion is: write down every single idea so you wont forget about them. My own map started with simple modifications and some campaign upgrades and abilities included. Then I started to write down a list of things I could change and add so I'm still doing it. You may be surprised to find more things to add faster than you can actually add them.
thanks for the support man, and i think the terran being able to build defensive walls would be a great help. the brutalisk is one unit i left alone, but made updrages for, it now has a speed upgrade that needs researched, and its attacks are buffed by the zerg attack upgrades. Also, wanted someones opinion on this, what about the zerg building regeneration upgrade.
