The new reputation thingy got me confused. Are we supposed to 'like' posts that are helpful or posts that are funny? Or both? Is reputation to be seen as a professional map-maker or as a funny guy? Or is it a mix-up?
That's the wonderful thing about karma; you thumbs up whatever you feel deserve a thumbs up. Whether that's a funny remark, something you agree with or a classy reference you caught is up to you. Karma is supposed to represent the 'general reputation' or 'how well someone is liked in general' for a person, keeping in mind the fact that this doesn't mean low-karma people are automatically not liked. Since bad karma doesn't exist in our perfect little world here, you can generally do as you please with the system.

Then I would love to transfer your reputation to me, thank you :D
Would I get punished for abusing karma (such as finding every single of Neonsz posts and liking them). What if I feel bored out of my mind and start raising someones karma in order to make that person feel uncomfortable about ridiculous amount of rep he suddenly acquired?
You are supposed to thumbs up anything posted by me. Always.
But really, just thumbs up anything you feel worthy. If somebody made a good joke, or helped you out, show them your gratitude. It's not like we're going to get angry that you thumbsed-up a funny post :P

I'd prolly tell you off for it if I found out, but it's not like any of us really care. Karma's a bit like a boardgame - it's up to the participants to stick to the rules. Since mapster isn't 4chan, I think we should be ok. I hope so anyway.
Rep can be kind of random. Look at me; I'm at 37 as of posting this, but nothing of that have actually come from what I figure are my most helpful/interesting posts (the Terraining FAQ, my Terraining tutorial and the WTE posts).
Reputation's pretty fickle, but it does serve to incentivize people to do good things, or at least, improve the cleverness of their statements. As people get more acclimated to the idea of liking posts, reputation will flow faster.
In short, like the posts you like; be generous without being easy. The benefits reaped will be larger than the cost of hitting a like button a few times a week :p.

I think it's both, but with activity coefficient, because more posts -> higher probability to recieve a like.

There's only one answer to this, Like my posts.
So do people just not like me or something? Last time I checked my rep was like, 1?
So here is my chance for a thumbs up! Ummm. Uh..... Hi?
Great to be back and part of the community again!

It's just another "feature" to ignore. Simple as that.

Hey nice job, now you're at 2 :D
I'm going to like you for that.
I’m so happy there isn’t a dislike button. So, I can finally have some reputation :)
Dont give me thumbs up, I HATE it!
