SO....Most people know that the sequal to Wings of Liberty will be called "heart of the swarm" and you will play as zerg. There have been some rumors it will have alot of RPG elements and things as you control kerrigan and make her stronger. (personally I want legacy of the void way more...but what ever)
Here is my question for you: What would you do if you were the head programmer at blizzard for the game? What would YOU do in the campagin. Make it RPG-ish, liner storyline, non-liner, some form of currency in-between missions? Purchasable mutations, upgrades?
So..Here would be my campagin..again, I'm looking for people to post their own ideas, this is just to get things started:
You control kerrigan before WoL takes place. Kerrigan is a hero you can level up in game. Obviously her stats increase as she levels, and the levels carry over from mission to mission. Between missions, you can spend "DNA/genetic whatever" or some other form of currency to evolve your units as well as kerrigan. So you would be able to, for example, buy zergling speed for 200 DNA strands or give kerrigan a new move for 300. Kerrigan would only be able to learn 1 of 2 abilties per level she gets and they cost money, sort of like research but again, they cost money/DNA.
So what are your ideas?

Honestly, I hope it's after WoL. Kerrigan has some how retained her magic zerg abilites, hence her hair is still zergified. She is alot weaker but alot nicer. Relearn abilities like samus.
You don't want one character Oped, because the game would be not too much fun. (Oh take the Terran base...) One spell could be like Psionic storm an do AOE damage rapeing units etc.... I think at the core of a game is the strategy not just one hero character. Then again blizzard did pretty well using Arthas to run around. Though he had a set amount of abilities. It balanced well between in ROC and TFT. I feel like jimmy should've been boots on the ground. I enjoyed having to (Protect a hero character). I really hated everyone calling me "Commander." When A. I'm not Jim Raynor and B. I'm playing from God mode.
This is totally offtopic so feel free to smack me for this... but the lead programmer dosnt have much say on what to do.. "lead game designer" i hink is what your looking for hehe (Dodges the smacks)

The story happens consecutively. Each expansion takes off directly after the last campaign's ending, this has been stated by Blizzard. So unless they're lying then it will be right after WoL. Kerrigan is partially de-infested but can become stronger via upgrades etc. Mengsk finds out Kerrigan is not dead and now partially human, trys to kill her despite Zeratul's prophecy, Raynor eventually kills Mengsk/something else happens to him, Hybrids control most of the remaining zerg with Kerrigan maybe controlling a small portion of the swarm now. Hybrids try to kill everything again, Toss sits around watching from wherever they reside now.
Just thought of something, what if the Hybrids somehow resurrected/created a new Overmind that serves them instead of itself. Or cerebrates etc? Personally I'd love to see the Overmind return, so long as it does not sound weak like 99% of units in SC2 do. Nothing quite has that sound that SC1 does despite technology improving since 10 years ago.
I imagine that there will be a little backtracking with the HoS campaign. You'll play for a bit before the end of WoL and then you'll have the post WoL game, which should be a majority. I think part of the problem is that we're getting conflicting information, or a major spoiler. Kerrigan has been deinfested, yet she's still going to be the main character in the zerg campaign? The only way I can imagine this working is that she still controls some of the zerg, but she's not being controlled by the zerg DNA. She now uses the zerg to help Raynor try to take down the Dominion and probably goes after Mengsk for revenge, possibly stepping on a few toes and maybe even upsetting Raynor in her tactics to take that dirty dictator down.
I hope they handle it more like an RPG. Kerrigan is so BA I do hope she's a tad OP, like in the WoL campaign. Unfortunately the deinfestation process has scaled her current and potential powers down from what the Queen of Blade was capable of, as well of neutralizing most of the power she had.
So far I've been pretty disappointed with the hero units. Warcraft 3 had a great hero system, and they have a lot of tools at their disposal, even built in to the Galaxy Editor.
i hope there are brand new units in kerrigan's swarm. Like spectres, diamondbacks, and pediriton turrets that just appear in jim raynor's arsenal and not in the dominion. Frankly i would like not being encouraged to just rush to mutas and then fly around everywhere with a fleet of lings and mutas raping everything on every mission.
Yeah. It sounds like she will be still in control of a small fragment of the swarm..From what I understand the hybrids are still a threat, so we will probably see a lot more of them.. (4th, campaign only race???? probably not lol..I'd rather see the xel naga).. But her and raynor might be buddies, but she is all weak due to the fact that she got zapped by the artifact. So maybe the campagin focuses around her re-gaining her powers and helping jim fight off dominion and hybrid threats...I wonder how they will handle the RPG elements. I'm good as long as its not a diabolo kind of thing. Perhaps the xel naga finally hurry up and return and we have a new race in campagin! =]

Personally, I hope that it focuses more on the Zerg Swarm after Kerrigan leaves. I'd like to see who/what will lead them, whether it be the Hybrid, a possibly neo cerebrate, or a new Overmind. I wouldn't want them to dwell on totally Raynor, Kerrigan, and Mengsk, but allow them their individual face time. I'm not totally sure how they'd do this unless they had us use the zerg to keep trying to take over new planets while facing two opposing Terran threats - Raynor being one, and Mengsk being the other - and also the Protoss. I'm not totally sure if this could add much depth to the overall storyline though. I'd just rather see a more in-depth look into the workings of the Zerg.
Personally, I don't care much for hero units, but at the same time they could help add a lot more to the story, but if they go the route they hope, The only possible hero units would be a hybrid, if they took over the Zerg, or "hero buildings" if that is possible.... such as the Overmind or cerebrate. As the title dictates, the "Heart of the Swarm," which I hope will be them taking a look at the Zerg as a whole, not Kerrigan.

Heart of the Swarm could either refer to Kerrigan now 'having a heart' (figuratively) or that the Swarm will get a new Heart or Central Owner. Basically could mean a new Overmind/cerebrates. Which I would totally love to see. Kerrigan has become a bit bland... In WoL 70% of what she said was just generic 'I'm gonna kill you for <blah blah blah>' retorts. Nothing actually interesting.
I'd make about a 50/50 mix between crawl-type missions and base building missions. Dungeon crawls are usually my favorite levels in Blizzard RTS games (WoL being no exception.)
Well they have already said that you will be playing as Kerrigan, similar to how you were playing as Raynor, and it will revolve around mutations rather than technology improvements.
I'm sure kerrigan will play a major role in this. But how did WoL end, anyway. I beat it, but did the artifact kill ALL the zerg? I mean it must have taken out 90% of it, since the news report stated all the zerg retreated to char.. So your swarm is probably shattered and you control a small section. But even if kerrigan is not playable, she will still probably be the focus of campagin.

I got started on a toss campagin today, but now Im thinking about what kinds of things I want instead of money upgrades and mercenaries. Im thinking more along the lines of relationships with other sects of races. For example, you might help the tal dariem in level 2, and then in level 5 you might have to fight an enemy of the tal dariem, and you will get controll of the tal dariem base. If you attack them back in lv 2, then they are enemies later. Sort of what I mean, still not sure what Im gunna do...

My plan is to go with something that feels more classic. I'm into telling a story, not making something that's too complicated for me to handle. It would be nice to make "what if you did this on this level," but I think my campaign will be linear. It'll still be epic, but linear, save that there will be more optional objectives that will have consequences on the following missions. :)

Yeah...I kind of hope they somehow come up with a story AFTER WoL...I dont mean for kerrigan to be OP just FYI. Like heroes in wc3, death = respawn

I think we can safely assume that Kerrigan is only partially deinfested, and HoS will just be about her getting her powers back.
