Wow. Very interesting haha. Perhaps next time make them in a loop with triggers haha, but otherwise I can honestly say I have never seen anything like that done in SC2 before.
I updated the first map, it looks much cooler. The other map is a bat simulation, it does not require a good computer to run, you should definetly check it out :)
Ok basically he is using an actor with the Range type. In the first map he put up there were many range circumferences. They moved with the blacked out terrain and you could then see different height levels on the map. The second one did the same thing except it had a moving range circumferences instead of a bazillion different ones. Very cool thanks for sharing.
I updated the Range_actors so that it tracks the movement of units as well. In order for the radar unit to detect the moving unit, the radar unit has to be moving. I set both of the units to patrol so you can see what I mean. Other than that, it looks pretty cool.
EDIT:
I updated the map again, now the radar unit is instantly moved instead of patrolling. It looks as if the radar unit stands still. Try it out :)
Hey guys, I created a really cool thing in a sc2 map. I recommend you to check it out if you have a good pc.
Are you aware that this is eating performance like crazy? :D
But you showed us that we can use range actors for funky things...
certainly creates an interesting visual effect

Great to be back and part of the community again!

someone make video xp
Is it possible to make it work for showing units as well?
Still alive and kicking, just busy.
My guide to the trigger editor (still a work in progress)
video plzzzzzzz and more details on what's happening and how it's done!

@JacktheArcher: Go
Thank you for explaining :)
@willuwontu
I think it actually does detect units like the sensor tower does. I haven't tested it yet though.
Looks sick, thanks for sharing! :)
