When we put out a request for feedback from the community we heard loud and clear that players want more socially driven experience inside starcraft 2.
Uhm... how is the new chat superior to the current chat version? It just looks more clunky and less organized. I hope the chat windows are a permanent part of the UI now that cannot be easily closed, otherwise the changes to the chat are very superficial.
Aside from that, its looks great. I dont have a problem with the current Arcade system, I think its great and very functional, but the new one looks maybe just abit sleeker. Also, this is the first time the menu screens in SC2 also actually look cool and not like half-assed beta versions.
Needs to show number of players in each lobby though. If I really want to join a certain map, then I'm going to join regardless of player count. However if I want to try something new, then I'm going to be looking for a lobby that's almost full.
Looks really impressive! Although the chat stuff seems like the same old system to me with some more bells and whistles, the Arcade menu looked like it instantly took people to the Open Games List. If that's really the case, this is definitely a step in the right direction!
And it wouldn't surprise me if Blizz is purposely not showing how many players are sitting in each lobby. I think they'd be worried that if too many people are looking for almost-full games, the emptier games will never fill up at all.
I'm also curious if the games in the Open Games list are still ordered by when the lobby was opened. SCI had an exploit that allowed people to reset their position in the list easily from the lobby, making the overall list, for all intents and purposes, completely random. I think it worked better randomized than it has been working in Bnet 2.0, where you know all the games slow to start tend to drift upward in the list.
New a arcade UI looks good, but I cannot tell you enough how much I hate the Hero of the storm style chat, replacing the current sc2 chat with that will be a HUGE Minus for me

This is the case. Showing how many people are in a lobby is a very bad idea when you really think about it because it will just lead to a "the rich get richer, the poor get poorer" situation. Its smart to not show the numbers.
if they would give us some extras, like an different colour if the mapmaker is in the lobby that would be great and might help to test maps. there is still the problem that i can't play a map the way i want to, like "DESERT STRIKE ONLY TIER3 units" lobby name. takes away a whole experience.
also alot of the problems here: http://www.sc2mapster.com/forums/general/general-chat/70323-funkys-arcade-wishlist/ still persist.
but in general, finally another step in the right direction, 5 more years and we might end up with the wc3 system again :D.
Lobby's can be indirectly named, and in a more flexible fashion, via the chat linking. COmbined with the fact that you are forced into Arcade chat when browsing the arcade, seems to resolve the issue, and also permits lobbies to be linked from anywhere.
Looks really cool, I like the new UI! The addition of typing "[Lobby]" in chat and people being able to just join in by clicking is pretty neat too. I like the use of all the 3D models too, makes it feel more alive/less boring. :P

not bad...but i was looking for more!
Well then..
This looks positively impressive.
That statement is hilarious too!
What is interesting is the new chat command to go with it.
You can type [Lobby] into chat when you are in a lobby, anyone who clicks on it will join your lobby.
Ooh shiny!
Does the chat carry over into the games as well? It looks great.
Its a kind of Barrens Chat i guess :)
@egodbout: Go
What is a barrens chat?

Damn. That UI. That's awesome.

Very little information about arcade and i am so skeptical about two buttons "Join" and "Browse".

I don't really like the new chat. I like being able to have separate boxes, especially for private messages. Otherwise UI seems fine.

Hopefully they keep it to showing only games with actual players in them. Nothing worse than the WoL ghost lobby problem.
It looks like they are standardizing chat systems between Diablo III, HotS and SC2 as well.
