G'day there folks! More people were showin' interest las' week, but for this week I'm going ta be stickin' with a little theme Wolf1322 suggested to me in a PM...
Weekly Terraining Exercise #12
This week we be devotin' full time to floatin' with the "" theme! I want ya ta be makin' a landscape on any tileset ya want, that looks like it's under da sea. That be meanin' blue lighting, lots 'o seaweed, fish, interestin' trenchas and whatever else ya come up with. Lessee what people come up with here - Good luck!
N.B. Attempting to sound like a rasta and failing at it is optional.
It is pretty easy to do the terrain, but to make lightning that looks real seems to be a bit hard, but it might just be due to me not having any major diving experience :D
The first one seems the most real to me, although it is kinda light. The second seems strange, too shiny. While the third looks as if it's blue nightvision.
Tried to make some little underwater cristal mine-base. It's way too much monochomatic, but I didn't find a proper set of colors. So I just went with "screw it" and did what I can, which is to say not much..
The water effect was achieved trough blue fog (no density set, just changed height and color) and luminosity.
Initial layout for underwater city, will update pics as i work on it.
cbrag beat me to it, but im going in a slightly diff direction.
with some help from my kids, we decided to go for a rusty look, here's the next updated screenie
updated pic, its getting there.
Yours seems more detailed than mine x] I just put a bunch of korhal buildings everywhere. It was really a lighting exercise for me, since I don't have a lot of experience with it.
I don't dislike it Wolf, but you need to play with the lightning more to make it work. Currently it feels more like a low-gravity planet than an actual underwater area.
The two underwater-Koral terrains are kind of funny - I dub thee New Atlantis. Nice alternative take on the subject, though.
I want to try this out but could someone explain how to take the screenshots and post the screens in forum please. or point me to where i can find directions. Thanks
Take screenshots with the Print Screen button, either in the editor or in game, if you do it in the editor, you probably want to press I first to hide the interface (press I again to show it). Once you've taken the screenshots, they should end up in your My Documents/Starcraft II/Screenshots folder, after that, just make a post here, press the Add attachment, and browse for the previously mentioned folder where your screenshots are, then just upload them one at a time before you actually post.
Obviously, this is for Windows, if you're running some other OS, I hope someone else can help you but it should still be something similar.
Thank you! I should have been able to figure that out now that you explain it. How can i get different camera angles in game? Im gussing the screens taken in game look better than the ones from the editor.

To get different camera angles in the game is a bit tricky, as far as I know, you need to place various cameras in the editor, then use Triggers to swap between them. Also, depending on your settings in the editor, you can get it to look just as good as in game. I generally take all my screenshots for the WTEs from the editor, and I haven't really had any problems so far...

I agree, the first screeny seems the most convincing. I'm really noob with the lighting! D: How do you make it look blurry and such?
Really neat idea for this week, i actually got a similar idea myself some days ago. Anyway here's what i did: a nice little reef

(Bonus point for those who see the pack of beers)

I like it ! But, maybe there is a little too much Hue in it ?
I would like to see underwater cities too if anyone want to try it ? Like Atlantis...

Looks quite ok, and the beer is on the crates! wtb points.
It was fun playing with the lighting and I managed to get an effect I liked.

Perhaps we'll see a Rapture somewhere in this thread?:P
Couldn't get fog to work, so I had to settle for depth of field.
A small sunken shrine

AHH the focus! I really wanna know how to get that effect! D:
