I made Cortex Roleplay - Sonora Beach, and Wastes. Not too proud of them though :D I wasn't super aware of lighting back then, and I haven't updated them in forever because there's no way (that I know of) of removing all the libraries and dependencies and such, so they're stuck at like v1.4 or something.
EDIT: Also I ignored higher end computers and based the map's features on my own computer's performance, which is not very good.
Haha yeah, I really liked the lighting on the little human facility that I made, but the rest of the map is really ugly. Like I said though, I forgot how to use lighting x]
Also @Yeti, cool stuff :) the last screenshot is really sick.
Hi all :) It's been almost a year since I've opened up the editor, so I'm kinda rusty. My skills have withered away but I managed to whip this up. This is my submission.
EDIT:
I pretty much forgot how to use the lighting system (took me like 5 minutes to even find it o_o), and my angles are kinda crappy, but I'm tired, so I'll stick with what I put up. :3
Does anyone know if the night elf buildings are available? Not the tents or gazebos, but more like the buildings in the shopping district in Darnassus.
Also, another question (though not entirely relevant), does anyone know if there is a successful RPG-type map with WoW models implemented, or know of any teams that are working on something like that?
I just thought of one. Perhaps an idea could be an Animal Planet type of deal where we pick an animal or use one of the animals in the WoW model packs or something and create a natural environment around them. Or Man Vs. Wild where we portray a scene where a character is scaling treacherous landscapes or surviving off the land.
My bad Yuka, I meant you should turn your TERRAIN graphics on ultra x] To do this, go to File > Preferences > Video and from there you can edit your graphics, or just reset it back to the settings you have for in-game.
You should try adding foliage. If your graphics aren't set to high, you can set your graphics to ultra and it shouldn't make a big difference on performance.
Make the body of water larger to take up some of the empty space.
More rock-like textures on the mountains maybe?
Make the terrain less even. From the original picture, it seems to be bowl shaped. Then you could make better use of the trees with that I think.
Add more doodads and foliage.
Play with the fog and lighting.
I also had trouble with the skybox. A lot of the time, the only way I can see the skybox is if I make a camera and set it's view distance really far (CTRL+Mouse Scroll Down doesn't always work to see the skybox). And when I change the skybox, I have to restart the map editor in order to see the new skybox. Both problems I can work around, but it's just kind of inconvenient :p

On the given link for the WoW Model Viewer, there is no longer a DEV WORK version on it (or at least from what I saw).

Are you able to have access to the models with just the model-viewer? Or do you need the actual game installed to get them?

Not a bad start. Some suggestions:
