It looks great!
And why shouldn't it be playable? Is it a FFA or a TD? If it's a TD, there's no problem at all..
if it's a FFA/Melee map, you could like place a fire when an unit enters a region, so that it can 'see' around there and eventually start expanding or so :P
just an idea.. dunno the intentions of your map :)
Why aren't any of these beautifully terrained maps on Battle.net? I'm sick of tower defense and pylon defense and photon defense and Nexus wars and desert strike... they're all the same damn map. lol
I created my screenshots on a map which is the tiniest in the editor.. and all there's in there is the screenshot itself (and some background you don't really see).. it's not playable at all..
I must say that tiny maps are fun to 'touch-up' with lighting, doodads and such.. but large/huge/epic sized maps are a bit overwhelming when it comes to the fluffing... well, in My case that is :)
Well, I'm not sure if it's playable because of two things.
Lots of lights. Sure it could be playable, but I'm not sure if people would stand having to tell noobs to turn down their light settings.
In order to keep the map dark, I added a trigger that hides the area around each unit to prevent streaks. The map is either completely visible or very dark. I'm not sure if the that amount of triggers will cause lag.
Not really my favorite since I don't have enough terraining experience to pick one. This is an old test that I did a while back. Any comments / suggestions are much appreciated.
Have to say there've been some really nice contributions this week, hoping to get enough time to finish mine tomorrow, but I've been really busy lately. Anyway, great job everyone :)
Instead of just digging up an old practice terrain like my last submission in this thread, I decided to actually make something specific for this. I tried working on the concept of a floating waterfall. Second Submission.

That could work as some sort floating land in the sky if you'd change the background, would be a nice way to make a zone-map for an RPG or so. Looks good:)
Because this week's subject was favoritism, i created something with inspiration from music, came out kind of wierd and simple.
But i still think its kind of awasome
oh and i created a tileset of my own for this one =P

As I'm currently developing my first quality outdoor terrain... I have something to share:
Working on the LOS BLOCKER for cut scenes in 1st person mode...
I am trying to make my detailed map playable...
I am going to have a RPG MODE and then Develop a multiplayer vs. map pack.... survival of the fittest. Basically Search and destroy type map
Protoss... search and Terran's must destroy random targets (pylons) that randomly appear on the map...

That looks very cool, nice lighting!
Just throwing the old ModCraft screen in, because taking a new one would be work.
I love rocks.

I meant, how did you make everything else pitch black? I like the effect a lot.

A realy dark ambientlightning and the rest is some good water, the reflections of it in the cave a bit later will be awesome :)
