In honor of Diablo III's imminent launch, this week will be draped in the colours of the epic battle between the forces of hell and heaven. Or something like that, I've no idea about the lore. Regardless, this week's theme is "Diablo III", which means you're meant to create any sort of terrain that either has something to do with Diablo 3, resembles an area found in the game or in some way resembles a moment in lore from the game.
Give me your best, and happy gaming and terraining!
On account of not having much experience with Diablo, I thought I'd just make a hellish-temple thing, as that's the closest I could think of. Guaranteed 100% sci-fi free.
Thanks to the leaked spoiler from last weeks thread, I went ahead and made my entry a few days ago as I will be playing D3 as soon as the servers go up.
Anyway, I made the first zone, then got into it and made more areas and eventually it turned into a nice little area which I felt compelled to throw units into. Then I lazily made up a hero and some quill rats and then a boss for you to fight at the end. So I actually have a playable submission this time.
Attached are all the photos I felt like taking and the map so yall can play it.
Pretty cool stuff so far. I quite like your little hell, Alaron. It reminds me a lot of the volcanic tileset from Warcraft 3, especially the third picture.
Duncs map is a fun little thing to play through. Really liked some of the original doodad work you put in there (like the gate), it's just a shame so little of it shows well in an RTS. Some areas are a bit empty, too. Overall great job though!
Also, that last boss trolled me - I was doing an awesome job kiting him and killing him and then at 20% hp he gained a huge movement speed bonus, ran up to me and 2-shot me >.>
I don't think it does really end. I think it's discouraged to post to old WTE's, but I've seen people do it. I normally make sure I finish it before the next WTE, which is Monday.
Side note: Are we ever going to have a actual terrain contest? Don't get me wrong I enjoy these but I feel like a little bit of competition is never bad.
Nice work! Quite like what you've done there. It doesn't resemble a sci-fi setting at all anymore, and does a really good job at capturing the over-the-top evil visuals Diablo has.
As for contests; we've actually had a few in the past. Nothing fancy planned at the moment, but I'll poke Sixen to see if we can throw another one up soonish.
Weekly Terraining Exercise #81
Only about a day left folks!

Just a portal to hell.
Unforunately, I didn't do anything with the map borders...
Shablam!
Had trouble uploading image before. I decided with the limited time I had, I'd do something.
When does this end?
I'm making a melee map which i just got the rough outlines and concept so it's gonna take mroe to pretty up the terrain D:

@Mozared:
In light of recent events.
OMG that looks awesome! Hats down good Sir :)
@eliek: Go
That's not Diablo 3, that's WoW!
Import the Whimsy level Trees, Clouds, Rainbows, grass texture and water and make a terrain out if it pls!
@Eimtr: Go
Lol.
This is what I came up with.

@SirDeeDs:
You could upload this map so that I could learn from you. That's pretty awesome.
Is it me or do these have the same graphics quality as D3? I'm thinking some of these look even better than the game.
