I don't believe you can just hand a gun to any medic as that would be a model, which isn't in the game. But you can easily make the medic shoot with whatever you'd want :)

Can I just use her animation but not have the beam be coming out? I want bullets to come out. I could just go with heroes, I was planning on making heroes a choice after you make it to a certain level or add them in later after I released it so the map doesn't get stale after a while.
well the problem idea wise, of giving the medic a gun is that the main job of a medic is to heal other troops, so the gun she would have, would have to be small meaning a pistol or a small laser type gun.
i would look at protoss weapons for that because then its not too out there in the idea of hearing/seeing another weapon shooting from her.
You can certainly add the heal animation for attack, it just looks stupid to shoot bullets from a glowing green fist, which is why I opted for a heal beam weapon.
If the medic model have 1/some attachment point at its hand, u can attach it with a gun/smth like gun.(i think it have cause the heal beam shoot out from hand)
I think attaching a weapon to a hand just makes the bullets come from that hand. To my knowledge it is not possible to edit the model. You could however, give a marine all the sounds/looks of a medic (coloring the model, not replacing it) and that would give you what you want.
Is it possible to give the medic a gun like the marine? I want to add a medic so that I have a female with a machinegun looking thing for my map.

I just made the heal beam into a weapon. Took some doing, but I got it to work. Also plays heal animation when attacking.

You can just use a regular marine, color it white and give it a medic portrait and sound set. You know, the suit doesn't make the sex.

(The unit you give a weapon ) If it doesn't have an attack animation it will be shooting and you wont be able to see it.

So, is it better to start with the marine model as the base? or to use the medic model as the base and change the medic to fit the marine suit?
