thats because supply depots actually create a whole new unit when they morph, i believe you can fix this if you go to the supply depot ability and check a flag called ignore placement requirements or something along those lines.
Okay so figured out part of it (creds to ZeroAme), I can disable the "No Build" flag in the footprint, but it also disables any colliding the building has. i.e. units can go through it and stuff. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I haven't tried, but holding shift while placing should work.
If you mean for players I'm pretty sure you can just path it in.
press H to enter the pathing menu and paint some buildable pathing wherever you like

And yes, I mean player building. Even if I hold shift for it in GE, if it's a supply depot the up/down ability won't work.

Is there any way to do that for the main depot as well, but not allow it to be built ANYWHERE? (i.e. cliffs)
