I made some WASD maps a long time ago, but stopped working on them because WASD maps were too laggy on battle net.. But maps like haunted mansion or whatever its called have no lag...Does anybody know how this is being done? And I do not want to do it via command card buttons with hotkeys, that is lame.

I saw that one programmer made, thats the one I said I did not want to use because you have to use buttons with the UI enabled...Or did he make another one? And I know there are WASD libraries but I need to know which one is the one used in haunted temple. I will go search again... =]
Well the problem is even the default UI lags custom maps...I don't think there is any such solution to the lag, even using default controls there is a minor noticeable delay. Maybe you just got lucky and managed to play it when it wasn't very laggy on bnet?
Hmmm..The Author was bragging quite a bit about how little lag it had. Even if there is still lag, as long as its small enough that the map is decent Im good. (Psst...I am thinking about a multiplayer diablo syle game..so lag would be bad. ) See, I never played diablo but it looks interesting. soo..yea. I sent him a PM, hopefully he can help us out.
Really? Is your internet connection and CPU good quality? Because in the videos he showed he said it had no lag at all with quite a few people...I have heard some people say no lag, others have alot...

I dosnt matter how you script it... lag comes from the press of the button, not anything else =( anyone who says it has 0 lag dosnt knw what hes talking about. spell htkeys have the smallest lag in the game, and even that has a small amount of lag.

Nobody has lag free WASD movement. Anyone who says they have is lying. It's that simple.
Ok. I just want a map with LITTLE lag. And there are things you can do that will cause extra lag, so therefore you CAN reduce lag by avoiding those things.

.< But thenn its not as fun, is it? :) Lol I know what you mean, but its alot more... interactive if you are moving around freely. And WASD works fine offline.

WASD doesnt really lag that much, i have dialup and can measure exactly how much bandwith im using (with a little meter on my screen), and from tests keypress events generate pretty much nothing compared to compared to camera related actions, like lock camera to unit, mouse relative and mouse rotation, which is the primary reason 3rd person maps lag (and regular rts view maps with lock camera to unit on), so i really wouldnt worry too much about network traffic from WASD
delay will always be terrible though, nothing you (or ANYONE else) can do about that

Progammer made something like that, and there is also a WASD library I think that could be of use. Flex those search muscles!;)

Ah, I could be mistaken about progammer`s solution then.. I wasn`t fully aware of how it worked but he claimed it was pretty lag-free.
What about this? http://forums.sc2mapster.com/resources/trigger-libraries/8558-wasd-library-and-fps-library-use-them-as-your-own/
Edit: No..Not sure if the above is the solution either..
Have you tried asking the author of Haunted Temple how he did it?
Nope, good idea. I will go send him a PM. Hopefully he is not too protective of his lag-less secrets. =]

The last time I played Haunted Mansion it was pretty darn laggy.

Yea I tried it too, lagged like crazy

qft.
I would say mine is lag less, not lag free.

My comp is a beast, and so is my internet connection. Its BNet.

The biggest thing you can do to avoid causing your map to lag is not putting in WASD.

Well, not necessarily. With the way BNet lags WASD games I'm more inclined to say WASD games aren't as fun :/
I just don't understand why Bnet 2.0 couldn't do what Garena or pickup listchecker did for classic Bnet.
