I want my 4-player map to be 2v2 (and not 1v1v1v1 or 3v1). How can I enforce this? So when people play this map, they have to chose to play in one of two teams.
I did: Map->Player Properties and there:
My hope is that the pre-defined colors do the trick. I have no way to test that. Does anyone know?
Teams are all done through triggers I believe. So you would either put the in game menus to choose a team or set up the triggers so that player 1 and 2 are allied with vision and player 3 and 4, or whichever players you want to be allied.
As far as I know that'll just make the players have the same color. If you click the button Team Placement (Advanced) you can set the teams and everything. But assuming you've made a Melee map, I think the best thing you can do is go to Map -> Game Variants and click the "Generate Defaults" button, this will create several default game modes including 2v2. You can delete the others as needed.
Doing it through triggers will make the map a custom map instead of melee I think.
Disclaimer: I'm not sure and it's untestable until we can play our maps online without the hack.
Hello. create a trigger that uses map initialization with an action as: Player - Make player 1 and player 2 treat each other as Ally With Shared Vision
OR
I havent made a melee map yet but from what i see from your picture is a Team placement (advanced) tab... If you made "STARTING POINT" for each player in your game you should be able to assign teams using that tab.
What you have done is assigned colors to players.. nothing more
I was looking to do this in one of my maps and posted on it (HERE) but got no replys. Thanks for the info here, anyway. I'll try it out when I get a chance.
