Hey im pretty interested in your project..I'm actually learning Maya at school right now so it would be an interesting practice
Vivi was one of my favorite FF character...I'd love to see him in a starcraft 2 maps loll
I have a question thougt...what's the max poly for a starcraft 2 ingame model(look like around 500 quad...maybe less to me) and do they use normal, bump specular, etc?
if yes i could give you something very interesting hehe...
What polycount are you looking for? I haven't messed with SC2 modeling yet, so. Also, textured just as though they look in those screenshots? Do you need a .m3 file? A .obj file?
Hey updated main post with the answers to some of your questions in the QA section, also increased the prize pool! in addition to the old prizes:
1st: $100
2nd: $50
3rd: $30
all prizes to be paid via pay pal. seems there was some debate as to if the contest was worth doing i hope the added incentive has persuaded you to get involved =) i realize there is a lot of work that goes into these i am creating several myself and i just want to say ahead of time i appreciate your work and i hope to see lots of great models!
so just to understand it right, u r basically hoping that in the end u have those models you linked remodeled...
(as everyone will pic different characters there definatly will be a full set...)
no own style, just like a royalty free copy of those u linked?
I have no hopes of fulfilling all my modeling needs with this contest, i need somewhere around 30 models. i am looking for skilled people that have the know-how that i can ask to help on my map and get some models out of it.
I could do it myself but it would take tons of time. and even after the fact of the context i will have to animate all of the models. i want to make it clear that this is not only a contest for Awesome prizes but me asking for help on my map and hopefully giving everyone something that they want. for some reason some people have made me out to be the bad guy when all i am tiring to do is get help and in return give away cash and prizes! I plan to have more contests in the future around different aspects of map making. There is more cash and prizes to be given away after this! The end result will be a EPIC map developed by me, my team and the community. I hope to keep doing something similar with my next map.
nah, i'm sry, didnt want to sound rude or anything!
i just wanted to know if i understood everything the right way!
the new outlines are really tempting, at this moment i cant tell if i'm really ion, because i have a long time project i need to get done in the next 2 weeks and yeah... we'll see!
and royalty free means not cash free but so you can use it as you wish and redistribute and so on...
So, just a heads up, I'm going to most definitely exceed 20k polygons. I'm at like 4k polygons, and this is just on Hope's shoe (one of them).
Should I keep on going with this high count model or should I do a more gameplay oriented model?
i'm not sure why you quoted me in particular, but firstly i already have it and secondly zbrush is much better for that task!
and where the fuck did u put 7k polys in that shoe? Oo
u could cut sooo much out of it without neccessarily loosing too much detail...
okay, as far as i see this is developing into a highpoly contest?
i mean, wasnt the initial idea to make models for game use purposes?
or are u going to make a lowpoly version afterwards?
go on the frontpage itsi n the news

Anyway good luck with your project!
I suppose it's not too much. It just feels like a lot. I'll give it a shot regardless though.
I think I'll do vivi.
Do you want the models rigged?
Animation will probably be too much though.

here is what they look like.
Also, after talking with some people i realize the amount of work involved so i increased the length of the contest and sweetened the pot a bit.
Animations is not needed, the only requirement is textured.

Now I really wish I was more into modelling :(.
Hope these turn out better than all those anime/game models that people made for Warcraft 3 though, they were just... terrible.

do the high poly one, then do a low poly one based on it. you can then do a normal map from the high poly one.

Skizot was here.
BAD NEO.
You can do it in CS4, its not a new feature.
o lol well if you do not have photoshop there it is, it flagged it as a new feature so i just assumed.
My computer can't run the 3d editor... I tried >_>
What tools are the best for easy texturing and UVmapping and stuff?
Also, attached is what I've got done so far. A 7k polygon shoe...
