StarCraft II Hotkey Trainer
Anyone who would like to check out the map my team has been working on since April 2010 can now find it on the US Battle.net by creating a custom game and searching for "Hotkey Trainer". It is single player, so no need to search for it on the join game screen.
It utilizes many features of the StarCraft 2 editor that remain unused by many maps out there, so even if you don't need Hotkey Training, it's worth a look. It's even got licensed custom music in case the plain SC2 music is starting to get a little old.
Please leave any comments or suggestions you may have!
Enjoy!
Thank U~ I want it!
Hello! I really enjoyed using this program in the past. Is there any way to have this program again in HOTS? Is there a way to download it outside of battle net and run it that way? Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks so much!

Hey I just checked out the map. Thanks for sharing! There are a few other great training maps out there. Here is a review for YABOT, one of the best for sure.

Also i think some important features accessible with check boxes or something for things like an option to require the "b" or "v" prefix for a build hotkey. Also allow for custom prefixes for other hotkeys; ex: if i want to hotkey my barax to 2, i can set 2 as the prefix and train myself to press 2a for marine instead of just a. leave to user preference, but i know id use this feature cause i move my hand to hit b or v, and its in a different location when i do.
Also checkboxes by abilities for users that might not want to learn every hotkey, just whatever ones they feel are more important at the time. Or if i want to practice micro hotkeys only. or build hotkeys only. That way users can split up learning hotkeys into smaller chunks if they want. ive done both in my map already, wouldn't take long to put into yours. we deffinitely used different aproaches though, i wana have a look at yours and figure it out.
Makes sense. If you want you can give me access to the source for this map, and ill see what i can do in terms of adding grid support. I used to be the trigger guy for an rpg project too, but ours fell apart :(
These are all great ideas and things I plan on implementing down the road. Currently my team is working on an RPG of quiality even beyond that of this Hotkey Trainer. We will likely add a replay button on the results screen as well as support for custom hotkeys, though I can't promise when these updates will occur because I'm prioritizing the RPG above the hotkey trainer at the moment.
If you would be interested in trying to tackle some of these updates yourself, I'd be pleased to consider this, though I'm not going to promise anything at this point. If so, let me see some of your current work or at least PM/reply with your current editor knowledge. Thanks!
Hey, i was half way into making my own version of this, but i was quite impressed by yours. i got an idea and a request for ya.
Request: please update for custom keys! Also add -r functionality to restart without having to reload the map... such a time saver for yabot, im so used to it. or maybe add a small UI peice for navigation like pause round, restart round, terminate round, main screen etc.
Idea: Freestyle mode. Allows for better feedback options like hpm (hotkeys per minute count instead of points) as well as apm counter, maybe even a graph if you have a lot of time on your hands. At the end would give a readout of your final hpm, total time etc, and your slowest and fastest keys.
id love to use this map, but i cant till you change keyboard layout to include at least grid. i am a random player, and memorizing hotkey across the whole keyboard for 3 races is a bit much.
Planning on implementing this after customizable hotkeys are released by Blizzard, that way you'll be able to try out different layouts to see what works best for you, or practice a new layout you've made.
I really like the concept. However, I'm a leftie who uses "right-handed grid". ( go figure!)
Is there any chance that you can make the hotkeys customizable?
Thx
This is a NA release only right now but I plan on releasing a EU version soon.
I had trouble finding this project. Odd.
I'm a EU player, any chance for an EU version?
