Introduction:
This is my first serious map project for StarCraft II. I've always enjoyed the campaign aspect of StarCraft and have played through both the Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm campaigns several times, along with a multitude of different campaigns made by the public. I therefore decided it was time to create my own.
"Annihilation" is a 24 mission campaign with three different story perspectives that will intertwine into one final conclusion. Featuring high-quality terrain, lots of different characters as well as a wide variety of mission scenarios, this campaign, featuring 4 difficulty levels, will hopefully create an enjoyable experience for players of every skill level.
Link to the official Map Feedback thread can be found here.
Features:
- Three seperate storylines intersecting and coming together into one final conclusion.
- Play as both Terran, Zerg and Protoss.
- Heavy focus on quality terrain and environments.
- Custom soundtracks and several interesting Hero units.
- 24 missions pitting you up against many different challenges and mission scenarios.
- A total of 14 boss battles pitting you up against a variety of different tacticts and strategies.
Story:
It all starts with Investigator Maxwell Reeves of the Spec-Ops: Infiltration Program, who sets surface on the planet Callithus IV to assist the Terran settlers with what initially appears to be a minor Zerg problem. However, they soon realize that events has been set in motion that will potentially change the fate of the universe, and it will be up to the different clans to work together against stopping this threat.
Installation Guideline:
Note: When playing the maps, avoid using the Resume from Replay function, as this may break aspects of the maps. Instead, use the Save/Load function.
- Download the Annihilation zip file, extract them and put all the files inside the Maps folder in your StarCraft II directory. The file path should be something like "StarCraft II/Maps/Annihilation". If the Maps folder does not exist, create it yourself.
- Open the "AnnihilationLauncher.SC2Map" file through the editor. To open the editor, either drag and drop the map file to the SC2 Editor icon, or open the editor, and use the File -> Open function on your taskbar.
- Once the Campaign Launcher is successfully opened, launch the game through the editor by heading into File -> Test Document on your taskbar.
NOTE: Do NOT change any of the file names. Doing this, as well as not having the files in the correct filepaths listed in the Installation Guideline above, will prevent the campaign maps from connecting and in turn, make the Campaign Launcher completely useless.
Ignore the "DS_Store" files that you may recieve upon downloading. These folders are added automatically when you store a file in folders on Mac computers. You can safely delete these.

Difficulty Levels:
This campaign contains 4 difficulty levels, ranging from Casual, Normal, Hard and Brutal. Your success in completing the individual missions on these difficulties greatly depends on your level of skill.
- Casual: A difficulty requiring little to no multitasking and micro skills, featuring less enemies and focus on story.
- Normal: A difficulty requiring minor multitasking and micro skills, featuring fewer enemies and focus on story and minor challenges.
- Hard: A difficulty requiring good multitasking and micro skills, featuring a high number enemies and focus on challenges and entertainment.
- Brutal: A difficulty requiring great multitasking and micro skills, featuring tremendously more enemies and heavy focus on challenge.
Troubleshooting:
You may have trouble opening these maps if you open them directly from the map itself. If you do have this issue and the map opens up as just an empty map, then I suggest you open it in the following way:
- Open up the StarCraft II Editor.
- Once finished, go to "Open".
- Find the map in your catalog, and select it. Using this method to open any maps from the campaign should fix any issues you have with opening them.
Music
You may notice some of the music in the campaign are not from StarCraft, in fact, I focused heavily on the use of soundtracks to bring the campaign to life. If you wish to see a full list of all the tracks confirmed to be used, click here.

just finishing mission 1 to 5, very nice game play with multi prong attacks that gradually get stronger and beautiful graphic!
Annihilation and Vortex are the best 2 custom campaign i've played so far, Vortex is more creative and Annihilation is better balanced
Nice campaign dudki! just played the first two missions again after 1 year or so and i wonder if there any way to start the next mission without leaving sc2 and opening it from editor, i believe that something must be done with triggers if i'm not mistaken, i'm pretty much noob about that. hope you can help me with it :)

Hi dudki i really dont know how to play this campaing, i download the files but when i test the map it appears "another more map of starcraft 2" and cant play anything :/
@DudkiSC2: Go
Thanks a lot for the tip Dudki!
Switching to enGb did the trick for me, the enUs didn't work (exported both localized data, only the enGb contained GameStrings).
Amazing Map DudkiSC2!
Just that I had the same problem as vad1mk and I did your instructions but it didn't let me test the map? can you help me? It says "[12/22/2015 10:20:36 AM] Error: Unable to save test document to 'C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II\Maps\Test\EditorTest.SC2Map'" I don't know what to do D:
@vad1mk: Go
It's an error with the localization.
Go into the "Map" submenu, and find "Locales". Make sure it's set to enUS. You want to go into "Modify Locales" and uncheck enGB and check enUS. This should make it work.
Awesome maps Dudki!
I have a strange issue on mission 8: Instead of text I see something like "Param\Value\AABF77F3"
The Wandering Shadow: Choose difficulty screen
The Wandering Shadow: In-game screen
The Wandering Shadow: Tips screen
Is this a bug or am I missing something?
@thisguy96: Go
Can you elaborate a little on what exactly the issue is? If you need help playing it, you need to download the files, upon up a map in the StarCraft II Editor, and then hit the "Test Document" button at the top right.
how to play this map help... iam lost
Helo, I just finished playing this amazing campaign and it was so much fun. I really enjoyed it a lot. I played it on Normal difficulty because I am not very good at multi tasking. Most of the levels were pretty fun and adjusted to my skill. I had a good time however, level 09 - Bio-Weapons was a little bit too complicated and hard.
I suggest that you have some indication showing where to go at least once once we hack a computer. Because I personally don't really like to look and find what door was opened even though I love exploring it is like an unnecessary work. (Ping in Minimap would make it a lot easier, even once maybe)
Also, I love exploring every parts of the map and I think you should reward player who explores. For example, I found the lack of health pack made this level very hard. Until I lost my medics at least. I lost my medics to the acid throwing zerg thing. It crushed my whole army almost instantly and my heroes were at very low level. Since, my last save was 20 min before I continued. But I just kept dying because there was no health packs. I had to use cheats :( I am not sure but maybe I missed the health packs even if there were some.
Other than that I really loved the whole story and very excited to see the rest of the campaign.
Will play level 11 later on. And thanks for making such an amazing campaign!

Alright, this is a little difficult to explain. It's a puzzle. Try to enter the first and leave it again and watch how the doors react. After that, get to the other beacon you didn't have access to earlier. Once you get that, you should get a ping, indicating that you can move on. The door you initially entered will need to be held down and kept open by placing a unit on it. That way you other units can pass through.
Okay got to mission 10. What order do I need to hit the beacons in? At present I'm only trapping one of my characters on the 'centre' platform.
Just doing a playthrough of Annihilation and it is awesome! Loving it, really playable, that important difficulty setting, unit upgrades, able to choose zerg strains, involving story, brilliant! Can't wait for more.

Hey, thanks for playing. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble.
For mission 7: You want to mainly search the areas where the Zerg bases where. In order words, the Psi-Emitter locations because this is where you might find burrowed units you couldn't see earlier when you didn't have overseers. (It is also only Zerg located in those areas that count towards the objective) If you did search all the bases fully and the objective still doesn't complete, then it must have been a bug. I would have suggested to retry from a save and try to destroy the bases again.
For mission 8: SPOILER ALERT - Remember the Bullhorn Lights you had to active earlier in the mission to get past that security guard? By the rocks there is another one of these that you'll have to attack. This will send forth a marauder that will destroy the rocks for you, allowing you to proceed.
Could not complete mission 7, as I could not find the last zerg. Probably burrowed in a odd corner I suppose. They should be revealed after the last psi emitter is destroyed to save time. Other than that I'm really enjoying this campaign.
Also could not complete mission 8 as the destructible terrain did not take damage.

Thank you for playing! :D
Nice campaing Dudki! can't wait to play the remaining missions!
@DudkiSC2: Go
Haha you're welcome dude, dunno if I helped or not. I do not know why but some customs maps can be opened directly, and some others can't. (on my computer)
@Lerida: Go
Thanks for the assistance, haha! I thought something like that was his problem, although couldn't exactly know for sure, as I can easily open a downloaded map directly instead of having to go through the editor :P
@chevelle12: Go
I don't know if I understood your problem but, on my computer, those maps cannot be opened directly, you have to open the editor, then to load the map by searching it. If you double click on the map file directly, it will open the editor, loading a new virgin map.
