First of all, huge thanks to Ultraling and Maverck for having done most of the work and making this campaign possible. Both of them were awesome about letting me use their stuff to put this thing together. These are originally Ultraling's maps, found here in sc2mapster. I picked them up a long time ago and slowly worked on them, editing terrain, adding all kinds of flavor here and there, including Maverck's Brood War mod, and this is the result.
Features
- all 10 original missions + the tutorial
- original SC1 units and structures with original stats, including custom models
- original SC1 Terran soundtrack
- all the dialogue, voice acting & other miscellaneous text from the original campaign
- classic unit decals, such as Alpha Squadron, Sons of Korhal etc.
"Artistic License"
(some notable differences from the original campaign)
- Medics - to balance out the units Brood War style, and to provide more options to the player
- extra "hero" abilities: Kerrigan has the snipe ability, Raynor can replenish Spider Mines
- Mission 4 "The Jacobs Installation" - third person mode (optional)
- two difficulty levels - with a somewhat more aggressive AI than in the original, in order to provide some challenge to the average player

How to play
- extract the mod file (SC1BWmod) to your "Mods" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (NOT the folder under "My Documents")
- extract the map pack to the "Maps" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (create the folder if it doesn't exist)
- extract the Campaign Launcher & setup to the same "Maps" folder (not the campaign folder)
Campaign Launcher installation:
- launch the Starcraft 2 editor
- open the setup map named SCMRsetup in your Maps folder and click the "test document" button on the top right (or press ctrl+F9)
- wait until the launcher loads and you're at the title screen, then save the game and exit the map (press esc or F10 to open the game menu)
- find the save file (named "Starcraft - Mass Recall" by default) in (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Saves/VersusAI
- copy or move the save file to the saves folder under your account folder (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Accounts/.../.../Saves/Multiplayer (for example; any of the save folders will do)
- Done! You can now log into the appropriate account and load the save from the load game-screen. You can use this save to play each episode.
more info:
- You can copy the save file to whatever accounts you want. For example, if you want to play offline, copy it to your guest account folder.
- If you're unsure of the right folders or can't find the Starcraft II documents folder, log into an account of your choice in SC2, go to the load game-screen, click on a save and click the "show in folder"-button. It will take you to the appropriate saves folder.

Alright, let me try asking my question this way..still struggling with the issue of getting the "defeat" message every time I kill ANY unit. Let me tell you where I've saved the files.
OS > Program Files > StarCraft II > Mods (Under Mods it is not in a specific folder like "Aiur Chef" or the Blizzard mods are, its just a White Page with a green Icon on it)
OS > Program Files > StarCraft II > Maps (The one map that is in it is "Rebel Yell")
Once again, I can open missions, but as soon as any thing dies the mission fails.
Anithira: Yeah that was a little mistake that got in when the terrain was reworked. Like Lleflyn wrote, you can get the firebat out of there without trashing the bunker, though :)
Anithira:
Put the firebat in the bunker. Put a rally point from the bunker to somewhere where he won't be blocked. Get the firebat out of the bunker.
Problem solved!
This is an awesome mod! just finished the SC2 campaign and thought i'd try SC1 on the 2 engine, see how it plays.
Terran2 has a slight bug in it (Backwater Station). When you rescue the camp and the firebats pop out, one is stuck below the southern bunker, and you have to destroy the bunker to get him out and on his way. Other than that so far, awesome :)
Wunterwaffen:
Thanks for the feedback. Let's see here:
1) Hmm, that is kinda bad. I'll see what I can do for the eventual next update. In the meantime, you'll just have to finish it in one go, it's a pretty short mission anyways. =P
2) Well, actually MavercK did that. And I approved! The reason is pretty much that they weren't retractable in the original Starcraft.
3) No. :)
4) That's definitely a possibility, I'll look into it sometime.
SovereignGFC:
Hm, it doesn't get any easier after that... I'm not sure what you mean by "spam back". The AI is pretty straightforward, there's no triggers where the AI instantly makes/gets a ton of units when you cross a magic line, if that has anything to do with what you mean. The mission isn't impossible by any means, try to take the expansion early and use high ground to your advantage. Have a healthy mix of units and you'll be fine. You can also deal with the intro problem by saving often. :) You're right though, the cutscenes could be skippable. All in due time. As for Kerrigan's annoyed responses, they're fixed in the latest mod file.
Also, episode 2 is out. You can pick her up here.
Really digging this mod!
I can sort of agree with Wunterwaffen that at least one mission may be "too hard"-"The Trump Card" is pretty nasty. Endless waves of 6+ Siege Tanks followed by Wraiths and Goliath/Marine mixes. I ran out of resources and was unable to push through the SE corner of the Confederate base.
Mind, if that's by design and my strategy is triggering a "spam back" (some game AI is programmed to do that), by all means please say so. In that same mission, is it possible to make the opening cinematic skippable? I failed hardcore and had to restart (Kerrigan died) 5 times, and it was annoying.
Regarding Kerrigan: a quick search of this site turned up several mods. They're not all problem-free, however, so be careful when using them. (At least one had a problem where it behaved differently depending on graphics settings). http://forums.sc2mapster.com/resources/art-assets/15259-wip-sarah-kerrigan-white-armor/ - Kerrigan in white armor http://forums.sc2mapster.com/resources/art-assets/9315-released-sarah-kerrigan-ghost/ - Kerrigan, gray armor
I am also not sure if someone was able to grab all the sounds from SC1-it appears not. Kerrigan's "annoyed, stop poking me" quotes revert to Nova. (Full list here-http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/StarCraft_unit_quotations#Sarah_Kerrigan).
Anyway, keep up the awesome and I look forward to seeing more classic StarCraft!

@ Wunterwaffen
What do you mean, "too hard"?
This remake was awesome, but there are 4 serious problems:
1. In the jacobs installation, if you die and reload a saved game, the mouse control will be disabled and replaced with the rts cursor and you won't be able to turn or aim, so I had to quit. Please fix that so I can play that awesome level.
2. What were you thinking when you took the retraction of the supply depots away?!
3. The game is way too hard. I had to rely a lot on the invincibility cheat. Please make it a bit easier.
4. You should use the custom Kerrigan model instead of Novas. It's in the resources section of this site, and although it was not able to work when I tried to use it (a glowing red silhouette was all I got) you could probably make it work.
Lleflyn & Johnny:
Thanks for letting me know. I have a strong suspicion patch 1.3 has something to do with the issue. I'll look into it and other potential data issues later.
talisstarcraft & Truart:
Thank you for choosing our maps. =P Coming up next is the Zerg episode, no ETA on the Protoss campaign yet. As for the Zerg, I guess I'll go ahead and say that barring any more technical difficulties the Zerg campaign is coming soon. Very soon.
They said Zerg was next, but they didn't give an ETA.
This is so amazing. Made an account just to give props. Which order are you doing the other campaigns in. Toss second zerg third or zerg second, toss third? Also, any ETA on them. Aw hell. Whenever and if you guys do them its all good.
I did a few minor map tweaks of my own, nothing major. The original point of the pack was to illustrate how the campaign should be installed, but go right ahead and download it if you feel insecure about it.
Hi johnnythewolf I downloaded maps pack you gave in #105 when I check crc32 I found your 4 maps (03 04 05 07) is different from Jones313's maps pack v1.02 is there anything update?
This looks so awsome! I do wonder when your going to do the Protoss campains?
Yeah, I noticed that myself as well, specifically in Terran05.
Loving this... only one issue so far - at my "academy," I can't research Restoration or the marine range upgrade (don't remember the name of it off-hand).
If I click on them, I lose the minerals/vespene as I should, and it starts 'researching' - however the button still remains in the control panel in the bottom right (I could queue up Restoration to be researched 5 times if I wanted) - and when it finishes 'researching' my medics still don't have Restoration. Same for the marine range upgrade.
Is this common?
Thanks for the update, i'm checking this mod for news every few days :)
