Bio-Tech Company
Bio-Tech Company
What is this?
Bio-Tech Company is a single-player campaign for Starcraft 2.
About
This campaign consisted of various scenarios where I explore different gameplay ideas I had. It was made around 2012-2014 and thus is a bit dated but I still think it might be enjoyable for people to play. The focus is not on story-telling but more on unique gameplay settings.
Content
The Bio-Tech Campaign
This is the newest version of the Bio-Tech Campaign. The zip contains 10 map-files and 2 mod-files.
Installation
Copy the SC2Mod files into the Mod folder in the Starcraft 2 folder
Copy the SC2Map files into the Map folder in the Starcraft 2 folder
Open up the BioTechCampaign.SC2Map file and press "test map" button.
The mission launcher will then start.
The map files must be in the right folder for the mission launcher to work. Similar to this:
C:/StarCraft II/Maps/BioTech/BioTechCampaign.SC2Map
If the location is off the mission launcher will not function.
It's a shame the game is so stagnated. Just some simple DLC could have brought more life into this game- Then they hadn't have to wait for the game balancing to be done before they'd release more singleplayer content.
I liked part of the blizz campaign, other parts I didn't care for. Overall I felt it was too short. They did experiment with some new mission types that I enjoyed, like the RPG mission on Zerus, but that doesn't make up for how quickly I finished the campaign. Partly because how easy it was, partly because it was simply shorter then WoL.
I didn't like the retcons either, they have taken the story into an entirely different direction. But all in all, it could have been worse.
I did enjoy it, actually, I'm not totally disappointed, but I think they could have done some things different. But seeing as the campaign was supposed to be finished summer 2012 and they waited to March 2013 to release it because of multiplayer balancing, I think singleplayer has a backseat on this game.
Just a little campaign editor like that in Frozen Throne would have done wonders, along with campaign support on Arcade (link missions, ability to save/cheat)
Yeah i hope for it, because also Blizzard singleplayer is the weakest part of the game, especially on this HotS expansion, retcons, plot holes, nonsenses, romance, twilight style... What happened to the Dark starcraft i left behind on brood war... WoL was ok for singleplayer but this campaign of hots is awfull and too easy
Yeah, it's quite sad that there are such a small campaign community. Hopefully blizz will release some campaign utility in the near future. One can hope :)
I could do a concept map sooner or later :) Good luck with next missions... I am sad that so much campaigns here on SC2Mapster are freezed or abandoned
Mission2:
Classic BioTech does not require HotS, and the hero bar need HotS dependency. I might make a HotS version of the mission sometime.
Mission2 Project2: I think I could rearrange the first base a bit so that it's easier to bypass spectre's. I'll see what I can do.
Interesting idea. Do you have a concept map or a layout map I can take a look at? While I don't think I'll make the mission from scratch I might contribute something if you have concept map ready :)
mission 2: Why Jane doesn't hots' hero HP bar?
Mission 2:
I'll look into it. I've already added detectors t Goliaths to encourage using them, but mech need even more incentive.
Mission 6:
I agree, if I don't find a suitable WoL model I'll have to look for customs :)
Thanks for feedback, much appreciated :)
Mission 2 is now fixed and a bit challenging, the real problem is that bio vs toss is simply too much better of mech, marine marauder medic and Jane rape everithing.. My suggestion is to add Diamondback with relatives upgrades and also goliath upgrades, mech of campaign with all upgrades is very much near to bio efficiency, adding also hellbats could be the perfect touch on my opinion.
I think the param bug should be fixed in the new upload of the BioTech2 Beta file.
I hope..
Yeah, it's a rather boring mission as for now. It was more a show off of the cave terrain. :)
i see that the crystals heals you, good mission anyway, but i feel there are not so much to kill, the most dangerous things are the waves with hydralisks
Hmm. Perhaps a rarer unit type would benefit the mission better.
Khala crystals heal life and shields :)
mission 6:Deactivated disrupters should have the skull on the minimap,so i can locate it easily and i can kill it... Don't know why you used a colored sentry instead of other units like stone zealot... De gustibus...
I deleted the older files when i uploaded all files
Glad you liked those missions :D
In mission 5 you can just as well use the mouse to click-move Hamilton around. I know the camera can be a bit dizzy, and Starcraft aren't really made for RPG missions.
If your gonna play mission6 I suggest you play the standalone beta version I've uploaded rather then the mission in the 4-6 mission pack. The mission in the zip file is much older.
Mission 3 is really funny, also with the silly raged mega zergling, hydra,Ultra (10 marines killed :( ) and Mutalisk XD
Thanks for feedback, guys :)
The param/value bug. My arch-enemy! Shall try to fix it soon.
Only mission 1 was a vehicle mission. The others are more conventional, althought mission 5 is also a bit different in gameplay then regular SC2.
I'm thinking about adding hellions and lower costs for mechs, perhaps they'll be more viable then. Perhaps even increase supply costs for marines to limit how large a marine ball can become.
As for mission three, I think I can delay the ai a bit on the easier difficulties.
Other bugs on mission 2 : Nova doesn't have walk animations, the upgrade that give to you auto-heal for mechs have the "blue flame" hellion upgrade description and name
