Multitasking Trainer
Multitasking Trainer v0.94
This is a map based on the Hotkey Trainer map for bw. It is a great way to practice and improve your multitasking APM and Hotkey usage.
Huge changes have been made with v0.9! check the files page for the changelog.
Concept
You need to manage your base, defend incoming attacks, keep your minerals low, rescue a neutral unit and defeat your opponent all while microing a probe that is constantly being chased by a zergling.
Features
The player has the ability to select his desired race at the beginning of the map as well as choose from five different difficulty settings or create the custom settings that are better suited to his needs. The map is now fully customizable! Also, as of v0.94 "Coach Mode" has been added. This feature displays an alert when you are not making workers as Protoss or Terran or when you have idle larve and Creep Tumors as Zerg. It is indended to further help people improve their multitasking and macro.

This is the first map I have ever made so all comments, suggestions, bug reports etc will be greatly appreciated :)
I have also looked for the multitasking trainer for my Mac book because I have faced many problems when I accessing the multitasking function on my Macbook, sometimes my apple id not working then I always visiting the apple id support number for the instant help.
@stettcl: Go
The objectives and tips, warnings etc. won't show. It only shows Param.... what can I do to fix this?
@nickdafox is there any way todo that on a mac?
This is a great map. I improved my APM by using it. Check out YABOT custom map series too.
Here is a review of YABOT with download link.

Love the map and love the probe saving mini-game going on at the same time. Keeps me on my toes all the time.
I'd like a way to restart the map without having to recreate the game. Maybe add a dialog box to come up at the end asking if the player wants to reset the map. It kills my momentum having to recreate the map and reload it.
For those having problems keeping the probe alive i suggest editing the MultiTrainerVeryEasyv1.SC2Bank file in notepad. which in my case is located in the documents/starcraft2/banks folder. the location may vary depending on os. a quick search will find it. look for the line that says <Key name="1"> <Value int="270"/> and change the value from 270 to 220 or so. this will slow the zergling sufficiently to get used to the trainer at which point you can slowly start ramping up the value. indeed this is exactly what i have done and now i have no problems microing at the medium difficulty. i wouldn't normally suggest modifications to the trainer but i was pretty close to not even bothering with it due to its default values which for a total noob can be too challenging. good luck and thanks for the author of the trainer which is pretty cool :)
A good addition for this map would be a "Restart Button" in place of the "Defeat" screen.
This is extremely useful so thanks for this map. One thing that really bothers me though is that all the dialogue is messed up. If it weren't for the map description I wouldn't know how to pick my race, what my objectives are, or what the failure conditions are. I find it surprising that for such a well thought out and pretty complete map none of the text works. What causes the text to get screwed up? Is it a difficult fix?
In the mean time, can someone tell me what the failure conditions are, how many minerals I can have max, how many times my probe can die, et cetera for the different difficulties?
@tonyclev That's the point. You have to be constantly moving the probe manually, in a circle around the doodads. Thus, you're multitasking. (Probe movement + Base management + Army management.)
Fantastic map! This was just the kind of map I was looking for to improve my hotkey use and upping my APM.
Really great work with all the different modes, and including custom settings. I have the feeling the coach message (especially the mineral one) could appear 1 second earlier. Especially later on, your minerals pile up quite quickly and you hardly have enough time to react (specifically for toss w/ warpgates, where you've got a bunch of keys to go through to spend the resources).
I have tried the map on Normal. The Zergling keeps killing my probe. I have tried running him around but keeps getting caught and I can not "Patrol" him to keep him away from the Zergling.
I really like the idea of this map and am excited to use it, but can not.
I'm having the same problem as mylar2... Please help
How do you run this on Mac OS X?
Is there a specific folder I can put the map in?
Dragging the map to the SC2 icon just opens SC2's login screen.
MapCraft just opens SC2 to the login screen no matter what settings I choose.
I can run the map by opening it in the Editor and hitting cmd+F9 but this runs the game very slow because the editor itself takes half the resources on OS X.
I can publish the map in the Editor and play it from Bnet but all the string values are erroneous (Every string is replaced with an arbitrary value; "/Param/..." instead of "Zerg" for instance)
@phatency yea very big point, don't simulate the reality but give hard training possibilities! also don't give any way to "avoid" the difficulty with any abuses like ki-confusing, that u can use vs ki-extreme in a standard map.
To people not able to rescue the executor: there's a circular thingy in your base, bring the executor there. To people complaining that you wouldn't look at your scout all the time: who said that is a scout? This trains you multitasking skills, it doesn't matter what it is that you need to give attention to, as long as it requires you to constantly pay attention to many places at once. Yes it is not realistic, but it's a _training_ map. I used waypoints when I was just starting sc2 (in beta) and completed this, but now I feel like I'm learning much more because I can't use them.
A possible bug: I had macro energy disabled (at 200) and accidentally made a third queen and one of them got to 200 energy -> mission failed. Yeah would've probably helped if I didn't suck so much.
Suggestions: Why is the base you start in so small? It's hard to train your creep spreading abilities when there's simply no room to spread it. Gets really cramped after building many production buildings too. I make a lot of mistakes because there are tiles which look like I could build in, but can't. (like those below the mineral line).
Also the right side of the top-right island is right next to the map camera boundary which felt kind of annoying. I added +10 tiles to the camera boundary which feels a lot better imho. The problem is that players are used to units being centered when they double-tap a control group, but the probe isn't when it's so close to the camera boundary.
Great map though, this is my most played custom map :>
Could someone tell me how to make this mod available in the map list in the solo game ? Because i can't find the map repertory and my only way to play this mod is to make it slide on the sc2 icon or via the map editor. It's pretty annoying because I can't save replays after this (when I click on score screen it tells me to log in and doesn't show me the score screen...).
I have the same question: How the heck do you save the templar? I picked it up, dropped it all over the map and still didn't "save" it
How do I save the executioner? I went and got a warp prism and picked it up and brought it back to the base but still get a DEFEAT YOU DID NOT SAVE THE EXECUTIONER.
Amazing map. This is EXACTLYYY what i have been looking for, a player that complains at all would not see the true value behind this map and how much you learn from it. Even if you lose, it dosn't matter cuz your practicing the skills that are separating an average player from a good player. Very nice map, thank you for the time that it took you to make this, i will be playing this everyday until the real game opens.. Almost beat normal.
PS: To the people saying that the probe is to hard and to much and you don't watch your scout all game, It's not about watching your probe, its about NOT WATCHING your base :P you only need to be looking at your base for a few seconds anyways and you should have everything hotkey'ed.
Yep, apparently since the second phase of the beta, the zergling no longer attacks your probe, it just follows it around and sits next to it.
