Hard Counter
Unit Tester and Micro Trainer. Find the perfect counter for any opponent force and learn how to micro.
Build two armys (manual or random) and let them fight. Watch cost efficiency.
You can get all units and upgrades instantly in the main. You can build all structures instantly with workers. You can use different terrain for fighting positions. Just play and feel your skill boost.
Solo or 1v1 training with a friend.
Play it online on the EU Server: Create a game using the custom map "Hard Counter"
Yes, 1v1 seems the next logical step. I will work on it, when I have the time. Right now I am working on my other map "Counter Zone"....
Hey ! Man this map is great ! Very useful and well polished imo ! I totally agree with kaktuscz, i'd love to see a 1v1 version of this map in order to train my micro with a friend on TS or just have fun microing like hell with mirror forces against my friends. I've tried "Unit test map 1v1" which seems similar to yours while allowing 1v1, but your version is waay better ! So if you have some spare time it'd be great to see it allow 1v1 ! Keep on the good work !
Can you add some type of a Battlemode? Player A chooses some units and player B has to choose units to counter A's units within the resource limit.
This and the mock unit tester are excellent. I honestly cant remember if they ever had anything like this for SC1...regardless, it's very very useful.
One of the things I'd like to see is the integration of the campaign units, heroes, and upgrades. Though they don't have any use in melee, it'd still be fun to see how they hold up against the regular melee units.
Either way, I look forward to seeing what else you come up with for this map. Keep at it!
should be fixed now.
but sorry, no hotkeys for now. almost all keys are already used and i dont want to put "delete" on "#" or so. maybe F1-F12...
thanks for the helpful feedback. i will work on it soon.
Building a Sensor Tower produces a Sensor Tower with the graphics of a mineral field. :)
I use the north american client and this map is full of param errors which is a shame because clicking on the buttons seems to produce interesting results.
Another bug. If you upgrade armor/weapons to say level 3 and reset upgrades. When you press upgrades again it'll upgrade straight from 0 to level 3.
It's not possible (3.8) to build nukes. It's just grayed out.
If I build wall in the middle (3.8) the units will go around it because of the AI. If I stop army A and move army B, army A will start moving as soon as I interact with army B. So to test a middle wall I have to build tons of buildings all around the map to force the A.I to go to the middle. HC isn't really a practical way to test units behind a wall.
Take a look at UnitTester. Many different small starting terrains in one map is much better. Too bad nobody kept working on that map.
It would be nice if you could add a few hotkeys (respawn, delete).
thanks for feedback.
@cheber: i could not reconstruct the choke issue. you built a choke with buildings or did you use a given terrain choke? i tried it and it worked for me... do you have the same problem in v3.5?
3.4 isn't working properly. Try making a choke. The armies will go _around_ the choke.
edit: Lol, it's the same in 3.2. I guess I'll have to use the broken UnitTester instead.
very nice, ive been wanting to practice counters, and this map does it perfectly! thanks so much
bug for your map:
guardian shield affects both teams.
Hi hardcounter.
I have played this map for a while on my own and enjoyed many different attacks and things I tried out. This is a great way for people to see what counters what, and to practice micro.
Great work. The SC2 map community is action-packed even before the game is released because of folks like you.
in v2.2 (coming very soon):
the upgrade command card switching back is annoying, but i dont know how to fix it. maybe i find a way... does anybody know how? param errors. its a problem with localization. it should work with enUS enGB and deDE client now. if not, please let me know. i use swap forces to micro against my own counter force or to find a counter for my counter. you can play for example: random enemy, find a good counter, respawn own, swap forces, find a counter, respawn own, swap forces, find a counter...
I think there is something wrong with the program. The buttons all say Param value with a different value on them. At first i thought it was supposed to say that. I'm going to try a previous version.
