Known issues:
- Blizzard color scheme sucks :(, its not even easy to differentiate black and white, use colors instead
- If you cannot make any move due to being check, and are not checkmated, consider it a draw
Control by selecting your piece and than select the destination beacon.
Please leave feedbacks or any bugs encountered
@Manago2: That is called hot seat mode, where you control both players, unless that is a new bug then please elaborate on the details/replays
zzzzzzzz did you fix where you can control the opposite player's units yet?
@DesertSwarm: I would be glad if any bugs can be reported with replay, that would help identify the problems
I ran into a bug where I had him in check and he was able to move his King out of check, into another check... so I took his King with a pawn.
Hey PROGRAMMER! I absolutely love this map, and am incredibly happy with the detail you have put into the minimap and and the rest that must have taken a great deal of time.
Suggestion however, if i humbly may. And please respond if you receive this.
Perhaps a chess clock? i say this because i beleive this should be manditory. I have played a few games where they move once, and then simply.... do not do anything anymore. forcing you to either leave and lose, or wait indefinately. Plus this would be absolutely great anyway, and i hope you could implement this just to make it absolutely perfect if nothing else. Fantastic work. This would also cut down on greifing for your map. thanks a whole lot.
hey programmer
can i upload the map to the SEA (Australian + New Zealand)servers?
Excellent map. I've been playing various UMS maps with friends looking for good maps to play (and perhaps inspiration), and this and TronCraft have been the only maps with enough polish and overall quality to play more than once. Which I suppose is not really saying much, so the better compliment is probably just to say that this is an excellent map.
However, I do have a small gripe with some of the unit casting. In particular, the Queen as the Queen. The Zerg Queen is a notoriously slow and vulnerable unit; in Chess, the Queen is valued for her supreme mobility and power. The slow and vulnerable one in Chess is the King, a role that seems to fit the Zerg Queen perfectly. A better fit for the Queen would be a (at least somewhat) fast and (immensely) powerful unit: a Thor, an Archon, or an Ultralisk. I believe (and you may disagree and choose to disregard this comment) unit casting should be based more on function than on name; the Queen does not need to be female, but it should be powerful.
Along this line of thought, I have devised a unit casting for each race that I find fitting. I do not insist on these choices, but offer them as suggestions should you plan to allow players to choose different races:
Suggestions:
1. Add a "Restart" option on the right side 2. If free mode is enabled, let us zoom out by using the mousewheel 3. Add an AI so we can play against the computer
@Dreathean: The King might put itself in check by capturing the queen. If you sure its not, send me a replay of that situation @judgehat: No, its not. I dont know what chess you're talking about
The king and queen pieces are supposed to have their starting positions switched
Awesome game, great work. One error though happened when my enemy put his queen next to me king, where my only move to get out of check was to kill the queen (Had no other room). However, the game decided that was checkmate so I lost. But if I killed the queen (which I most certainly was capable of doing) I would have been ok (There were no other units that would have been able to stop my king from attacking the queen or anything).
@BenEEeee: It's a known issues. Unit rarely not following order while you lost the turn and the minimap was updated. For now, use the -debug command to fix it
Hi programmer I'd like to report a bug:
I was in a game where my Queen was not allowed to move even when I was not checked. I moved another unit in hopes that my Queen would be able to move in the next turn, but the problem still persisted.
Other units could move normally. I was not in a situation where moving my Queen endangered my King, nor was I checked.
Here is the link to the replay: Queen Cannot Move
Skip till the last part of the match. Please fix it, this bug is literally game breaking and very frustrating.
Try using the new "-debug" command to see if it fixed your bugs
@enbee, Jaggerlock: There seams to be bug after phase 2 when they patch the editor. Can you help give me your replay of your situation
First of all, nice map, you seem to have put a lot of work in it, and it's nearly perfect.
Why did I say nearly?
First of all, not being able to zoom out to see the entire board is a little annoying.
Second of all, you seem to have forgotten about a rule, if you corner a king and he can make no move, but is not currently checked, the game ends in a draw, when me and a mate got in that position earlier (I cornered his king with a queen, my king and a bishop), he wasn't checked but had nowhere to go, so basicly the game just stopped there, when it should give a draw message or something.
There are SOO many bugs in phase 2... i checkmated this king just now and the king captured my supported pawn and I couldn't capture the king... also many many bugs with pawns. pawns that simply don't work at certain points.
I'm white and my opponent played f5 and with my pawn on e5 i captured e.p on f6. On the minimap the position correctly updated with my e5 pawn on f6 and his f5 pawn gone but on the board his pawn was still on f5 and my pawn was still on e5 and nothing happened except for it being his turn now. Now later on in the game my opponent used his e6 pawn to move to e5 and in that process the e6 pawn killed the e5 pawn that is supposed to be on f6 (mind you i also could not move my e5 pawn after this incident). After my opponant did e6xe5 I took on e5 with a rook and later my opponent moved his bishop to g7. Don't forget, my pawn is supposed to be on f6 still (and on the minimap it showed correctly). My opponent clicked on his g7 bishop later and it showed that it could take on f6 but not on e5 so the piece functionality was still correct while the board wasnt. If you have any questions i'm SubZero on sc2 or add me [email protected]. Also available via skype for testing. I'll be playing this for a while for fun.
