About
I am actively looking for help in the creation of this map. It is a pretty ambitious project and I fully understand it will certainly need a team of people to complete as I originally envision it.
This map's history (not the map's story) dates back to about 2006 or 2007 where I created a really horrible turn-based RPG for Warcraft 3 with random encounters titled "Final Fantasy Tech Demo." It was going to have a bastard-ized story about Locke, Terra and a few others from Final Fantasy 6. It never had a public release because it was incredibly awkward to play, to say the least (you had to type in your commands, wtf?). Around January 2010, I found that old map and decided it was time to try again. The effort remains unfinished but fairly playable:

As seen from the videos, that crap took a long time to make. The spell animations are composed of a bunch of other real effects (no custom models) and I tried to keep them faithful to Final Fantasy 6's spell effects. Enemies have a basic AI that's unfortunately much simpler than I'd like but I never got a chance to implement some more AI features that would make it more able to mimic classic Final Fantasy boss fights. There was actually more progress done to the map than can be seen from these videos - when you join a battle, you are lined up, enemies left, players right, and when done, you're put back to where you were pulled into the battle from - but this never made it to Youtube.
I created an Excel spreadsheet to help me balance the spells and abilities, the leveling curve and a bunch of other things, was about to nail down the first section of gameplay up until the first boss, created the introductory in-game cinematic (which I was quite happy with), had a nice system in place for quickly adding new abilities, spell or summon animations, movies - and then I got into the Starcraft 2 beta.
And here we are! I hope to gather people that are interested in helping me create my vision.
