Edit #1: The Battle.net servers are not working well. US are better than EU but finishing a custom map is still really hard. Sometimes the game freeze (but you can still chat), you get random disconnections, or there are no more servers to host the maps. Let's hope it gets fixed soon.
They fixed a bug where the team settings were not properly used by the game.
Even with Map publishing being released now, we still encourage you to submit maps here on Mapster. When the Beta goes down on the 31st, the only way to distribute maps is through private websites such as Mapster. Battle.net will be down, therefore the Publishing features will be down as well. In addition, our system is also a good way to distribute single-player maps for those people who choose not to play over Battle.net and wish to play the Offline version of the game.
Patch 13 has gone live on the US servers. The EU patch is also up now! Battle.net is live! Undocumented changes can be seen here.
Note: The default Battle.net host in the editor is currently not configured with the correct beta information. Before you can publish from the editor, you will need to change this setting by doing the following:
- Use the File > Preferences command from any editor window
- Select the Battle.net item in the list
- Change the Host value to: us-beta.logon.battle.net (or eu-beta.logon.battle.net for EU players)
- Click OK
See here for further information on the Publishing features.
The window to publish your map to Battle.net can be seen below As you can see, you can set your own versions, allow it to be Public (all Battle.net users) or Private (Real ID friends only can see it). Also, there's a "Protection" feature which you can set (Lock Editing status). Something interesting, the Editor also optimizes our maps for size as well, which is great.
The window to manage your published Battle.net Maps. As you can see, it displays all basic information that can be seen over Battle.net.
Now im getting "USER_CREATED_MAPS_NOT_ALLOWED"
I have a problem... i put a .sc2mod in the dependancies of my map.. i published the sc2mod just fine.. but my map won't publish because it says it doesnt exsist on battle.net ...... >_> any ideas here? anyone had success in doing this?
and.. @Dregaton its because battle.net is all glitched up at the moment.. hopefully it will be fixed soon. Nothing to do with your map.
I have created a map and I've loaded it up to the server but if I want to create it shows this: http://kepfeltoltes.hu/view/100522/Screenshot009_www.kepfeltoltes.hu_.jpg I am on the EU server and I changed the host value to eu-beta.logon.battle.net but I can't create the map. I guess the game thinks this map is for enUS. Because if I click on the "Manage Published" button and I look at the map it has "[enUS]" after its name. And I can't create it on the EU server. Please help me!
I'm having the same problem as ShadowDancer93.
My map is stuck at custom and I can't make it public. Others have figured out how, clearly, because you see them on the list.
What should I do?
Does anyone else have to log out after playing a game? or is it just for the turret defense map im playing
When I trying to make my map on bn I can't change game mode from costum(and because of this can't set open to public). Someone know solution?
Custom Games are working as of now.
I just published my game a couple of minutes ago and i was able to load it and everything but no one joined. But I also don't have anyone at the moment I can test with to see if I can invite to the game.
It's because I don't think that non-melee games CAN be published, perhaps due to a bug.
Captain Obvious here...but I don't see any other custom games being played other than the melee maps. And my friend who usually plays with me is out on vacation, so I cant see if I can invite him to my games.
Soooo....why would Blizzard implement map publishing this patch and not allow custom games to be played....?
The forward slash is exactly what was in that error message on the upload screen. I did not put it in myself.
Yes, there are. The forward slash after "Publish" is the problem.
Seems something is very wrong with their upload code. Look at this:
Upload Error: 5/21/2010 8:13 PM, Default values are not valid (C:\Users\Killer\AppData\Local\Temp\StarCraftIITemp\Publish/Evolves Redux.SC2Map\LargeImage.dds)
No, there are NO TYPOS in that.
If you cannot connect, read the "NOTE" in the news post.
Looks like the editor won't even connect to bring up the publish menu for me. I can still log in though.
Edit: That's what I get for not reading the post as I refresh the page. Sorry bout that.
So, logging on b.net through the editor kicks you offline in Sc2 and vice-versa. You have the option to launch a game with a map that you've published, and you can invite people to that game, which I assume gives them the map and they can then spread it? I'm with everyone else so far though, I only see 1 user map and it's melee.
Anyone else notice the Facebook option completely replaced the add generic friend option? Looks like you can only add people you play with at random OR you could give out your email to everyone... I hope that's temporary.
Where are all the real custom maps? :(
We can only have one character per account, so...
its up guys but i dont see any custom maps in the menu
Does anyone know if its 5 maps per account or 5 maps per Character? Would anyone like to try this out to see if its 5 per character? This would solve the problem.
Yeah that's the issue, 5 average maps probably won't total 20 mb. Looking at my maps folder, there's only one over 2.5 mb, and that one has custom music included. I'd be more willing to deal with a straight space limit than an arbitrary number of "slots." As it stands, people who are very prolific at smaller things (like releasing new units as mod files, or open source script repository maps) are penalized for it. That said, I don't know if this only applies to beta or if it goes for the full version as well. Still, disallowing locally hosted maps for b.net play would be a huge drawback, imo.
