Fields of Glory by CloudWolf
CloudWolf and his team have decided to make a Total Conversion project, and turn the space-age atmosphere of SC2, into an old-time medieval environment. The map is going to be atwo-teamed AoS map, with each team periodically spawning units that race towards the enemies base via two main combat lanes. There will be 5 Players on each team that will control one of several heroes in an epic struggle to capture key positions, and ultimately crush the opposing forces. So essentially, a medieval DotA! By light effects i wasnt talking about all the crappy glowing stuff.... More like normal light. Light on the ground, a sky with a sun glowing a b-i-t, or a moon etc :P

Never heard of it. I used to play DotA alot about 2 years ago, but that is about it. I do not really play that much, I just make mods. Diablo 3 Warcraft is the perfect example of a successful map from back when I made stuff in warcraft 3. It became quite popular. (The main developers of Fields of Glory is the very same persons that created Diablo 3 Warcraft (CloudWolf, LTGH, RedMarine), and I am LTGH)

total conversion! u give my vision of the SC2 editor a name! A new DBZ map, WC4, a good C&C since red alert,AoE style, just anything but not this SC-fail Universe(i like Sci-Fi, but SC...like i said before)
How is that allround working? Availableness of models? I think this is highlevel editing with that all around what is needed there. How much of this can we expect in the next time? This map is just terrain and doodoads atm, what Units u choosed so far to implement? The zealot is such nice! the beautyfullst zealot i ever saw! Can u remove his blades and attach a sword to his hand?
Ye, my post was not an example of cultural debates! Added a sry under it, not so that im not feeling it. Dota did 1 thing that jus a very few games can, i play it since 4 years now and it makes fun like the first day. I am very delicate about flaming Dota :) and atm i am very annoyed of SC2 because of the same reason u called against Dota. But dont discuss this =! perfect custommapsystem in SC2 now!
Imo this map is in epicness compareable with Ele TD. A strong contrast to the usuall offered customs atm. Just to watch the flyby give a feeling like "Warcrafts coming home"! With "usuals" i mean not every map in bnet2, i got some very nice maps in bookmark with innovative or just any great idea or gameplay, but sadly the bnet customs are just made of page 1 with barely range to page 3 (but this is what i wont diskuss now).
U are pioneers of SC mapmaking! Allready before i preordered SC2, i knew i usually for real need to buy it only first after 2-3 Years, because customs must growing. U make them grow! Good Job! But Dotastyle is a big footstep and a hard terrain, everyone wanna be a Dota atm :) Good Luck guys!

The Only reason DoTA ruined WC3 was because Map Makers like myself found it very hard to get new maps out there due to the overwhelming list of DoTA in the List.
As i said before, the way this map looks is Amazing, and as i read he will make sort of like Alterac Valley from World of Warcraft. So i cannot wait for this map, it should be great.

Dota ruined wc3??? lol, how? More ppl play Dota than the maingame. If Dota would not excist WC3 would be since loong time uninstalled for me. Its the same when u say Counter Strike ruins Half Life, but Half Life suckz same like WC3, dont like them, but they have nice engines!

But i dont need any clones any more, not when i have to learn recipes and new mechanics again, when its keeping simple then its ok, like Battletanks. I saw no clone in last time wich i think its woth to learn a lot of gamemechanics of it. Dont like Sotis! Blizzard Allstars will suck 2 imo, the SC Universe is not made for this. I love ur Buildings and Themesettings, wanna see more of this!

pls NOOOO!!! Not more light effekts. ever played sotis? red flaming hydralisk makes flashbombexplosion spell in darked flashy lighted terrain on a glowing sniper + another lightning aura effekt..... baaaah i hate this! Looks so heavy shit! Everything is lightning, glowing, flashing,....bääääh! This was what i saw at my first look on sotis and destroys every chance to like this game to 90%! This is so typically for SC2 Universe, pls dont do it! Why they dont made WC4??? Because SC2 is lagging on most casual PCs, but np, SC2 looks shitty, just any sci-fi strange buildings, ugly mech units,....imagine how this game would lag if it were WC4 with Ogers, Orks, humans, nature, trees, massdetails charakters and living good looking terrain, and not STALKER and Phönix and marines and stuff. No comparsion to WC3! WC3 looks imo 10 times better than SC2, sure the technical Level is another universe, but when i play Dota i love this Grafik 100x more than this charakterless, dark, flashy, sc-fi overpowered useless SC Theme!

Regarding the gameplay mechanics, we have not yet started to add that into the actual map, we do on the other hand have alot of concepts and exactly how the map will play out is still in discussion.
Yes, this will be an AoS map like DotA, but the current plan is to simply remove the entire idea of just having a few towers in each lane. What we currently have in mind is to have small bases throughout the lanes which you have to capture in order to make your way over to your enemys side. The current concept for how you will capture these bases is to make it function similar to how it works in Alterac Valley or Arathi basin in wow.
And for how combat will play out, we aim for something inbetween DotA and Diablo III.

The terrain itself looks amazing, but to use it with a map like DotA? I personally think DoTA ruined Warcraft 3.... But im sure you could easily use the Models and Art into an Awesome RPG of some kind, or something...

I must say, this is amazing work. I know its still a work in progress but i'll like to see some more doodads and light effects. But its sure ... that must have took alot of work ! Keep going !

Yup, undeniably badass. Keep it up guys! I think the vast majority of people prefer medieval fantasy to sci-fi gaming with generic gun animations!
