Patch 1.5 Open Beta
Blizzard has announced the Patch 1.5 open beta! Since the 1.5 Alpha, an active games lobby has been added! If you own a copy of starcraft 2, you're invited to participate! Here's how to try out the beta:
- Visit your battle.net account management page
- You'll see a list of all blizzard games you own- Select "Starcraft 2 Beta" in the starcraft section
- From there, you can then download and install the 1.5 Beta Client (and log in with your standard sc2 account information)
You can help blizzard improve the game by reporting bugs on the battle.net forums here, or join the discussion on sc2mapster here. In addition, feel free to check out our two new forums, the AI Development forum and the Cinematic Creation forum.
@ZealNaga: Go
For everyone with localization problems:
Map->Locale->Modify Locales-> Remove all locales but your main (I had both enGB and enUS, removing enUS made map only use enGB for everything, thus fixing param/values..).
Zelda says he has problems uploading mod files, so we couldn't publish RuneCraft >.>
Anyone else have such issues?
Nice to see the system is showing promise though :)
@Taintedwisp: Go Yup, and you can customize its content, up to 5 shortcuts can be placed in it... It makes half the menu icons (achievements, profile, ladder, etc...) almost useless. That's a really cool feature. While ingame there is also a small box you can check that looks like a debug window showing errors, it's in the top-left hand corner. I assume it will replace the previous trigger errors system that was spamming half the screen with red text! :)
@Bibendus & SoulFicher:
Lucky for you Bibendus, your map isn't broken... I was also glad your map made it to the top thanks to the Arcade, it deserved it. Players like your map even if they're unfamiliar with DK, and that's what matters.
Although it seems a lot of maps are broken now... I don't know why exactly but it looks like on my maps it's 90% due to localization issues (text replaced, if not removed/reset to ParamValueXXXXX), because I've never spent any time doing it prior to patch 1.5... I'm not sure how it's done exactly (I've seen a topic about it but never dared to do what it says), and most importantly I don't know if I should do it during the beta test. The rest is about lag issues, making my Ikari Warriors map almost unplayable (sigh...). Reviews were surprisingly quite positive (SC2 players are not idiots after all?!?!?) but the lag was mentioned along with movement bugs, and I've had huge bugs with projectiles when playing.
WOW JUST REALIZED< there is this little arrow at the bottom thats a Quick Nav
@Bibendus: Go Yeah, got 5 stars from 2 players already. Let's see, maybe this new system will prove to be totally different. Take that popularity!!!
@SoulFilcher: Go
BTW my map is not broken ;)
And yes people are playin my map too and gave my map 4 stars so I'm quite happy :D
I feel both ZealNaga's and Bibendus' points of view. I have been fixing things the arcade broke, but people are playing my map already.

I feel motivated instead, knowing that someone will play my maps :P
I've tried the beta this weekend and even though it's quite good overall, I feel like I'll have to spend weeks fixing my maps now... Kind of demotivating, really... Locales are messed up (I don't know how to fix that and I don't want to use the MPQ editor method right now), custom data isn't recognized correctly ingame (abilities are considered "unknown", edited units are shown as their parent, etc...). The Arcade seems to work fine aside from that, though I think it's way more laggy ingame than before, probably because SC2 is using streaming now. Loading times are incredibly longer as well. But it's a beta, I know it's supposed to get better... I just wish it won't remain like that after the official release, because right now I feel like all the work on my maps (ALL maps actually, not just mine) is just going to waste... :/
I'm just glad its before HoTS, expect the next Fan patch, to come out right before LoTV.
So, as always, blizzard does the right thing but years later :P
Oh my god, I hate and love Blizzard at the same time right now... -.-'

Ye, Open Games List, nice though it should be saving the settings, then people will always see the Opened maps and will forget to click on Popular and will always stay on the Opened ones like War3, and will forget using Popular list ever!
I only disagree with some changes in the Quickmatch like 4v4 being 1st (so that newbs don't accidently press 1v1 button? o.O and that there is no fast button like War3 X crossed swords and that they still didnt make you quit lobby any time you want w/o log out bnet : /
An active games lobby is a lobby that shows currently open lobbies. In other words, say you publish your brand new, unpopular map, and then host a game. People can see your game in a list of "game lobbies waiting for more people", not sorted by popularity. As far as we can tell it's very similar to how Warcraft 3 handled it. Just like
So what is active games lobby? Can I now cancel the game countdown in lobby without having to log in again just because the countdown autostarted vs someone? Let me answer myself: No. So /Care
Hmmm... Nice
