    In reply to tdhsst:

     Well originally Zerus was supposed to be near the core of the galaxy and the overmind spent 60 years traveling to the kropulu sector. It's pretty safe to assume some zerg were outside the Kropulu sector and probably dominated many worlds on their way. The Protoss are a bit more tricky due to the retcons. It was said that they had retaken 60% of the Xelnaga territory in the Milky Way, but now that the Xelnaga are space gods from outside the universe and it was Amon who actually uplifted them it makes it kinda weird to talk about. Anyway, that clearly suggests that the Protoss Empire was originally intended to be much larger than was shown in the games.

    The Kropulu sector is not another galaxy but instead a small section of the milky way (our galaxy) which is about 60,000 light years from earth.

    I bet the halo is a separate attachment model. You should try to create a new data entry for a model and look for it in the files.

    Yeah, It's pretty cool. It definitely got me to play heroes of the storm again. If anyone is interested in playing the heroes, I suggest logging in now to get the 20 free heroes. It's more fun to play when you have some variety.

    To do friendly fire you need to find the damage/search effects associated with the explosion and look for the field which you can mark different types of targets as required, allowed, or excluded. At the bottom you'll be able to mark self, ally, neutral, and enemy. You'll want to mark all for a friendly fire type explosion.

    The baneling explode behavior will have initial/expire effects, those effects may point at other effects. You'll need to follow the effect chain to find the effects you're looking for.

    Using doodad models for units and structures can sometimes have weird little glitches. A pretty common way to fix stuff like that is to attach invisible marine models to them. The marine models will register clicks and drags normally.

    Yeah the whole system is out of whack. There is no requirement for the copyright holder to PROVE they are the copyright holder so it's not uncommon for strikes to come from trolls who just don't like a youtuber or people who are trying to steal their money. Then the system has no care for the actual law or the concept of free use. Now it is arguable if let's plays are free use but there are plenty of cases of actual free use all over youtube that just randomly gets struck down. Right now let's plays are honestly a grey area for the most part, but even worse, if you get permission to use something from the copyright owner, youtube's automated system might still take down the video.

    It's a really dumb system that puts power in the hands of however wants to take something down without making sure that those people should even have that power, and than gives absolutely no protection to content creators at all. Of course this is all done because youtube is afraid of getting sued by people like nintendo or other large companies so they just do whatever their told.

    posted a message on Mass Recall v6.0 Silver

    Not everything needs a warning label. People can have a phobia over anything or be reminded of things they don't want to remember or have an anxiety attack from any subject.

    Everything would then become a warning label if we just indiscriminately put warning labels on things of this nature, which honestly would make warning labels useless to begin with. I understand you have a phobia, but you should understand that no one else can read your mind to know that. Instead of being aggressive and suggesting that everyone should know to not share certain pictures where you can see them. Instead inform them that you were unsettled by the images and that from now on put such images in spoilers and provide warnings in the future, not suggest they should have already known and already have such measures in place.

    So please next time let's not name call people just because they aren't already aware of your own personal needs. Instead inform them and suggest how they can better avoid making you feel uncomfortable. Otherwise it seems like your the one being insensitive and mean.

    posted a message on Why are most projects campaigns?

    As far as I can tell, the custom campaign community has just been really good a inspiring others to join. With Jayborino and Deltron posting videos of custom campaigns and bringing a lot of attention to the community, it is not surprising to see more and more people getting involved with it.

    The seeds for it probably started with mass recall, then perfect soldiers and the remake of antioch chronicles probably did a lot to push custom campaigns. Basically some good ones were made, then people tried to share them, now lots of people are inspired to make their own.

    posted a message on Hammer of Dawn - Custom Campaign Feedback

    @GalaxyCross: Go While I agree that you probably weren't intending to troll or bully Edhriano, but it did come off a bit jerkish when you complained about something and Edhriano tried to take your feedback and change the names of the characters you had a problems with and then you insult her and her work for trying to respond to your feedback. Seems at that point like you just want to put her down instead of be constructive. Saying that she has no real vision and just slaps different story lines together was not a good choice of words nor does it help Edhriano become a better mapmaker or storyteller for that matter. If you are referring jumping between Kyra, Mira, and Annabelle at the beginning of the map, that makes perfect sense within the context as they were flashbacks to tell the backstories of these characters which were important because the antagonist was trying to use the pasts of these characters against them. I don't see how that is schizophrenic. I do see how if you skipped the whole campaign you might be lost there, but hey, what did you expect? you skipped the whole damn campaign. You say a lot of vague things and don't really elaborate on them in any meaningful way like "The gameplay felt a little clunky", like what gameplay was clunky and what do you feel made it clunky. "The dialog drags on" ok, what would you suggest Edhriano do about that and are you sure that you aren't just bored because you have no investment in any of the characters because well, ya skipped the whole damn campaign. If I only read the last 10 chapters of a book I'm sure it would bore me and seem very scatter brained, but that's because the narrative assumes that I have already read the rest of the book before those chapters so I will already know all the characters and subplots at play. I mean really man.

    @EDHRIANO: Go

    Well you've done a very good job with the endings. I can understand feeling down, but you should be proud you made a great campaign and finished it completely. Also you are welcome for the feedback. I hope it helps you improve as a mapmaker.

    posted a message on Hammer of Dawn - Custom Campaign Feedback

    Hey Edhriano. I have to say I am impressed with the final mission of Hammer of Dawn. You did a very good job making the player feel for the characters. I also really liked the concept of the final choice and the two separate endings. I don't think anyone has done that yet in a campaign. I very much enjoyed the mission though I would echo the same concerns others had for the map. It has a lot of talking which isn't bad, but it has only a little bit of gameplay to go with those cutscenes. It's mostly a few short combat encounters and one boss battle, which doesn't seem very long either. Unfortunately adding more gameplay might make the map too long with all those cutscenes, so I'm not sure what could be done about it. Maybe if the backstories of these characters had been partially shown before hand or foreshadowed more, you could have gotten away with a little less dialog in this mission, but you probably don't want to go back and rewrite part of your campaign now that you are finished. I know I wouldn't!

    All in all, a very good job, and a very fitting end to this campaign. I do wanna ask, how does it feel to finally be finished?

    Also don't bother with galaxy cross. He obviously just doesn't like references to other works within a custom campaign. Unfortunately those are quite common in Hammer of Dawn, so he's probably just not gonna like it which is fine, though he could have been less aggressive about it. Some people like references in entertainment, some people don't. It's just a matter of preference. Just keep doing whatever feels right to you.

    Edit: I can see the broken English complaint, but you have to remember some authors don't live in English speaking countries and that most of the time a single person is working on these projects by themselves so they don't have someone to help them make sure all of their writing is perfect. I would rather see authors finish their projects than get frustrated and give up because they get caught up in trying to make their writing perfect.

    posted a message on What part of using the editor do you find the most tedious?

    @temhawk: Go

    Oh man. They finally got around to adding at least some documentation to the editor. I started way back in wol beta and that wasn't there for years. Of course I don't know what "Editor Documentation" they are referring to there. As far as I can tell most of the editor has no official documentation beyond one sentence snippets like "Changes unit's attack" and the official tutorials.

    Also, that UI editor is just one of the many editor improvements that blizzard promised and never delivered on, just like star tools. At this point I wouldn't hold my breath for blizzard to add something that big to the editor.
