Anyone having trouble with this? Basically, I can't apply any changes to the attachments, positional offsets or otherwise. I've been trying it with the separated tank from the Item Kit on this site. I can't get the turret to sit properly on top of the tank body.
The first few bits of an episode I'm working on could fulfill this. Hopefully you'll see it in 2 weeks, but I need to get voice actors too. Maybe I'll just submit it without the voices when I'm done.
Well, I'm not making these for custom games so the scene is broken up into multiple maps to make it easier on the editing process. I'm getting better at it and will soon consolidate the process but to look at the files for this project is an absolute mess (some of them are completely broken except for one shot I wanted to capture). I will post one later though that shows off the marines.
For all the characters I am essentially animating it like an older cartoon. I slow down the stand animations so they are almost completely still, then i use a mix of speeding up, slowing down, and animation blending to hack around with the premade animations and make them look like they are doing something else. Mostly it's just speeding up and slowing down the stand animation.
I made those movements before the audio was recorded as well. Sometimes they needed tweaking, but most of them time you don't want them to bob around exactly with the words anyway because it looks unnatural (something I've learned from previous machinima projects).
So I wrote a stupid little sketch to test out some of the cutscene editor properties and some of the methods I am going to use for my new series (the head bobbing and video editing process primarily).
It's not finished, but only because I'm too lazy to get together with my partner and put the finishing touches on it and I'm already writing and animating the actual series. Someday I will finish it up and release it...probably.
Here's the list of things missing:
Needs a lot of tweaking as far as volume levels, need to get back at my editor on those.
Also missing a few sound effects and visual effects.
Voice acting will be redone in some sections (one line peaked, another I just don't like).
Jump cut timing slightly off...also on the editor
I'm looking for help moving forward on these projects. Any amount of help will be appreciated. My main weakness is my artistic inability, I can't make a pretty looking set. If anyone wants to help out in any way, please PM me. I can't pay but I will gladly pimp your name out hardcore in the credits and post links to your own personal projects in the description of any video you help out with.
In the cutscene editor it is very easy. Open up the property timeline, create a keyframe in the animation where you want to pause and scale the animation speed from that point on to .000001 or something tiny. It's not technically frozen, but it's slow enough no one will notice.
I don't think it's messing anything up yet in my cinematics (which is all I'm using the editor for) but I don't like the idea of having a million errors pop up every time I open the client.
I'm also working on my own series. I created a concept sketch to start with which I will post here soon after the editor finishes with it and I've begun animating the first 2 episodes.

Figured it out. attached an apple to the tank, then attached the turret to the apple. The offset issue is with the tank model apparently.

I mean that I type in the value for the offset and it has no effect on screen. I've tried attaching it to other points but no effect.

That doesn't matter in the cutscene editor. There aren't any "triggers" as far as I can tell.

For anyone who may be searching in the future:

Here is the item kit which has the tank models separated. I'm testing it in the CE now.

Thanks again for the help Jack, I really appreciate it.

How would you separate the halfs? That's something new to me. Can I do this for other units as well?

Turrets in general are an issue as well. I have no idea how to control them via the CE.

How do I animate the cannon of a sieged tank so I can swivel it in any direction I want. I'm having trouble figuring this out in the CE.

Hey, that looks great!
