Modal vs Non-Modal dialogs. What is the difference. A search on here turned up nothing useful, nor did a search of google. I know that in an actual windows application, Modal prevents interaction with the application until the dialog is delt with, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. What is the difference. :/
I don't know for sure, this is just a theory, but I think non-modal allows you to click on stuff that's behind it. In Blizzard's arcade map, The Lost Viking, the whole screen is covered by a non modal dialog. Look in the triggers for it.
i have been curious about that one as well, i was using non -modal in my custom UI and using modal on my hero selection and i have not noticed a single difference. ive added buttons, borders, backgrounds, moved them, showed/hidden transparent/non transparent(ive yet to find a intelligent way to make it so you cannot click behind a dialog(so i made my background a button that you cannot click just beacuse it was bugging me). as far as i can tell tehres not a single difference

I haven't actually used Modal dialog boxes yet. It should work as you said though by preventing you from doing anything until the dialog is closed.
All my dialogs are modal I believe, and I have encountered no troubles, even with multiple of them up.
Anyone figured this out? They don't seem to behave like you would expect modal dialogs to.

Bleh, well I can confirm that you can click on both a modal and a non-modal, but yah I'm still very curious as to what the difference is between them.

I think i read somewhere on the starcraft 2 official forums that they haven't been implemented yet.
