Just a small note, there are probably more map makers here than just custom games players. If you are planning to remake the same games, don't be discouraged or offended. We'll all recreate and reinterpret the old maps in unique ways, and players will enjoy them based on that.
The map is available in the US server, go to Create Game and search for "greatest" to host it. You can play all the maps with your friends, or play Block the Gate and Dodge the Rapierist solo.
I recreated these games for fun and nostalgia, and I hope these will be a treat to many old StarCraft players :)
Also I forgot to thanks some SC2Mapster members for their helpful old posts:
progammer for the "Battle.net 0.2" map which made me decide to use an ingame list instead of game variants to select a game
AegisRunestone for making a Dark Swarm ability
uiasdnmb for showing how to make a touch-and-die effect
So many others here that posted helps and tutorials, thanks!
Having them all in one map is my way of countering the monopolistic popularity system. In theory if this gets popular, a person could host the map and still get players to play the game he selects (assuming most Battle.net 2.0 players are lemmings ;) Also, I had thought before of letting others contribute modules, self-contained games as a bunch of triggers, to the map so they would be able to get players. Idealistically, it would be a battle.net within a battle.net.
The thought of having concurrent games in the map never crossed my mind. The most apparent issue is that there are only 6 players, if they are going to play separate games then they might as well host it solo. Also there is the problem of unit lag and shared global variable conflicts
I'm particularly impressed with your Sniper map's sporty-looking UI. To be honest I'm not trying to take away other map makers' audience, and remaking these games is mostly for the experience and fun in itself. Dedicated maps like yours instead of my modular games have much more room for growth that hardcore players of the genre can appreciate :)
For those who felt too hassling to restart the game when you got defeated by the rather tough levels I designed, now you can return to the SC1 lobby after Victory/Defeat, or by typing ?rm while playing. Try out the six available classic games now!
"it doesn't have any of Battlecraft, Golems, Crash RPG, Zone Control, Cat and Mouse?"
The games I chose to remake are those I had played often, enjoyed them, and know their basic ins and outs such that recreating them would be intuitive. The games you listed are indeed popular, but unfortunately I rarely play competitive maps, but rather cooperative vs computers. Cat and Mouse was originally on the agenda, but after VietMan release his remake, I realized that I don't enjoy the C&M genre enough to recreate one with the improvements a fan would have. I don't plan any RPG because they are taxing on the limited terrain available. For the other games, BC, Golems, and ZC, those are already available if you search the battle.net list.
If later I find it necessary to add a popular game, even if it's not my favorite, to garner more attention to the map, then I perhaps I will make one of the games you listed.
"its in us"
If after patch 1.3 is released and I still can't get a community to form, then I plan to release the map as open source so anyone can edit and improve it by themselves. My intention in remaking these games is afterall, to be able to play them with others.
And thank you progammer and Sixen for featuring the map :)
If anyone is curious how I implemented something in the map, I am enthused to help.
SC1 Greatest Hits is a compilation map. There are currently 6 complete games you can play:
(Same order as the video)
Many more are planned as I have time to develop them:
Level F-ing Computer, 20001 Hydras Attack, Korean Defense, SAT Control, Vulture Control, Observer Dodge, Bombing Zone, Archon Tag, Ghost Nuke Madness, Sniper Paintball

Hehe I'm loving your SC1 UI recreation!

Haha, Awesome fake SC1 UI. Thanks for the mention. The inside map lobby does provide more freedom than using default lobby and variants
lol! This is awesome, really nice work. Sorry that i'm late to the party, :(.
Yeah good ai :) good job
Woah! sc1 greatest hits and it doesn't have any of Battlecraft, Golems, Crash RPG, Zone Control, Cat and Mouse?
All in all great game, I didn't really see these played much back in the day though, cept Big Game Hunters.
There were variations of DtR, but honestly it wasn't very good to begin with :S

I'm on the NA server and i noticed the ver we have is not nearly as updated as the version in the video
me and my friends are addicted to finding waldo :D
I made the video more than month ago. The version on battle.net should be the most updated. What discrepancies did you notice?
I'm glad someone enjoyed the Waldo mode in Dodge the Rapierist, not to mention knowing it exists.
did you make these maps? if you did, can you make one like "block the zergling"?
