Hi, I'm trying to make a decent actor to use for items, but to do so I'd like to combine two existing models/actors - a crate actor along with a glow (High Yield Active Crystals)
I can attach an actor to a unit using triggers, but this is proving cumbersome and it seems liek there should be an easy way to simply combine these models for a single actor. Can anyone help me?
Its pretty easy just duplicate the two different actors that you want in the data editor and and then change the tokenUnit name to your unit. A unit can easily have more than 1 actor. when you switch both of the actors to the same unit it will probably over ride the model, just go back into the actor and change the model field back to the one you wanted.
oh i also noticed there is a field called (None) - Synchronous Model Data when your selecting your unit. You might be able to set one of your models on this that way you can avoid them using their seperate sounds and events to play stuff(and it would look cleaner). I'm not actually sure if it will do that but you could always try :P

Interestingly it doesn't let you pick models here, but script of some sort. The first way is working pretty well, though I'm having some issues selecting the unit due to the effect stacking as I had to classify it as a unit (to get the unit token). Is there an easy way to make an actor completely unselectable?
i dont get it whats the problem? you have two different ways to select the zergling or what? does he show up twice when you mouse over him? or is it just that you can click on the zergs glowy outline and select him?
Notice one of the items can be picked up but the other can't, can't select it at all. I've reviewed the data associated with "Combat Knife" and "Cloaking Device" - units, actors, models - I can't find any differences between them that would cause one to be selectable and the other not.
removing the glow resolved the issue, but I'd like to have it. Brings me back to: is there any way to make an unit actor or model completely noninteractive? click right through, basically?
I dunno, none of the attachment stuff actually lets me choose actors or models, it all takes "implicit" or "actor find" or weird stuff I don't recognize - definitely doesn't seem like the easy way.
I tried making an exact duplicate of the "combat knife" unit and actors (I didn't duplicate the models) and was NOT able to target it despite being able to target the first Combat Knife. I'm totally lost here, this seems to be at random. Can anyone provide a surefire way of attaching two models to a unit?

Thanks :D this teaches me a lot about the editor in general as well!

Add the glow as an attachment in actor data. Dont recall the speciifcs tho.
